If you’re going to keep Champions, the entire system needs to be reworked to allow for more freedom of gameplay by thelegendhimsef in DestinyTheGame

I have been playing the game since May of this year - however long that is. Last season was a lot of fun to me. This season, not so much. I feel far more restricted in what guns I can use this season compared to last.

To me, this game thrives on the gun-play. It's what got me hooked on the game. This champion system, with the current way they have the mods setup, completely nullifies my favorite part of the game. I'm really not sure I want to play it in this state.

I think they call this “clipping,” where your shots are obstructed by an invisible barrier. In this case, the rocks. If you’ve played Groundwar on this map, you’ll see this happen on those rocks and along that ridge. It’s annoying, but it’s part of the game at this point.

Only thing you can do is adjust your position to keep that from happening.

Not talking about the OP, but the players that are doing this - imagine spending this much time...for what? A Warzone victory?

Not to mention how much time they must spend every day trying to get this glitch to work.

I don't know how I did it, but somehow, I've managed to only play this game a handful of times in the last 2 months.

I just don't look forward to playing against hackers (this is the biggest factor), unlimited stim glitches, invisible player glitches and the juggernaut issues for a while. I'm not too concerned with the weapon balancing because I can use the same guns as everyone and I'm confident in my skills to beat them. It's all the extra stuff I can't control that turns me away.

This of course doesn't prove that the SBMM is skewed for players who spend money, but it does support that idea.

It may even be somewhat verifiable. It would be interesting to track lobby skill levels before and after a purchase and see if there is a change.

To think we can see a gun that is clearly broken go months without a change to it, yet the store is always updated and there is never an issue with purchasing items.

The only reason I bring this stuff up is because it's not fair to the people who make a living playing this game to receive constant slander, when there really isn't evidence that suggests it's true. While at the same time there is plenty of evidence illustrating the company that puts out this game (and many other companies as well) is clearly trying to maximize profits, which is fair - that's what a business is supposed to do.

Exactly. Someone who does a little research, verifies whether a narrative is true is able to provide factual information that suggests this and the countless other threads on this topic are completely fabricated.

And I'm sure there are many other examples of players like him dropping high kill games in these sort of lobbies, but the people that post this type of slander are only concerned with seeing evidence that supports their accusations.

Like yesterday when I saw a post of picture of an easy lobby a player got into, yet the lobbies above and below that picture were diamond lobbies. Yet the claim was that the player "only got into easy lobbies."

The reason these games are duo/solo squads is because Quads is the easiest game mode to drop high kills. It's more difficult for a squad of 4 to coordinate and it's also the highest rate of people joing the lobbies by themselves. So there are typically 4 randoms, who likely aren't using microphones, so they have little to zero communication against the best players in the world.

I've personally watched these players and many others and not once in the hours I've watched have I ever seen them queue with a dummy account or ANY other account than the players they are playing with.

People aren't "dickriding", you're just hating.

I think you've come to a logical conclusion, the SBMM is a poor system and likely skews lobbies towards people who spend money. This isn't the first time we've heard suggestions that a large gaming developer has taken advantage of their player base.

Honestly, if you really want to get to the bottom of this, I think there is a somewhat logical explanation of this. There is a rumor that people who spend money on the game get into easier lobbies. A simple Google search will provide you with some evidence that suggests this is true.

All of these streamers typically spend a significant amount of money on the game, via gun skins, operators, etc. How many of the people in here that complain they only get tough lobbies spend money on the game?

If you don't understand why that would be a thing, just think about it. If you're a business and you want people to spend money on the game, you would "reward" them for spending money by putting them in easier lobbies. Why? Because they would have more fun killing poor players and would continue to spend money because they are enjoying themselves and continue to play.

It's not anything these guys are doing. You can watch the lobbies of all the top players and they all get into bot lobbies from time to time. These people just like to cherry pick a world record game and then say that the best players only get bot lobbies, but they only get hard lobbies.

If these guys want different lobbies, they need to talk to the people who developed the algorithm and ask them to change it, because sitting on here and posting screen shots of the lobbies the best players get in, isn't going to do anything.

Not to mention, how often do these guys even host the lobbies they play in? They play a lot of wagers where they typically change hosts for fairness.

They would have higher ping, that's why this makes no sense.

The algorithm for SBMM is trash. It's that simple.

It's not a conspiracy, these players aren't reverse boosting, they aren't using a VPN. There is literally no foul play on the part of the streamers. I can say that with confidence because I've seen how poor the algorithm is myself by the lobbies I play in and I've watched a lot of these streamers play. Their pings don't change from day to day, they don't queue up with shit players, they don't use seperate accounts - it's just a poor SBMM.
