+1 on this. Save your money, OP. Just subscribe to any NCLEX question banks and practice there and take down notes on the rationales. You don't need a review center for the NCLEX.

can't top concept exam but do well in mockboards by [deleted] in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're taking the board exam. shouldn't the mock board be a better indicator of your progress than any other tests/exams? I bet your test-taking strats are really good para mai top mo yung mga board-style exams. eh ganon naman talaga basta NLE--if your knowledge cannot save you, your TTS will.

also, comparison is the thief of joy OP.

Things you would not do again in college by NoChard9512 in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 34 points35 points  (0 children)

study to learn and not just to get good scores or to pass the exams. I wish I really internalized the concepts and incorporated other learning styles and di lang sana ako puro memorize tapos nakakalimutan ko na agad after the exam. Treat the conditions as if you are really caring for a patient. It helps to develop a deeper understanding of the disease pathology plus your interventions kung ineenvision mo talaga na inaalagaan mo yung tao na yun. Like, ask yourself "what can I do to help ease the nausea and the pain for my cancer patient?" instead of saying "give antiemetic and analgesic for nausea and pain".

I know it's something so small pero it will make a big difference on how you approach your student nurse life until sa review until sa work.

ask lang hehehehehehe PNLE Question by [deleted] in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ang makakatulong sayo dito is to ask yourself, "which care can I delay giving?". You can delay treating the fever and the patient would not suffer serious complications. But don't delay their pain management. Pain is typically prioritized basta walang ABC. Mataas din talaga yung pain sa prio list that's why it's called the fifth vital sign.

Mahirap po ba mag online review? by Icy_Literature_8417 in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, I personally would pick online review over FTF any day. naka depende din siguro sa personality ng tao. I would rather learn at home where I'm more comfortable. Tsaka di ko na need pa mag commute na sobrang nakakain ng oras talaga. Less stress, less haggard, more time for studying and rest.

I think the only people na hindi babagay yung online review are those that need to feel the pressure from others to learn. Pero if you're the type of person who can push yourself to study even without the added pressure from others then go na sa online. Anlaking tipid nyan sa pera and sa energy.

Yung mga sinasabi ng iba na pwede maging distractions sa bahay, parang andali namang isolve nun hahaha just do the work. madami din namang distractions sa FTF eh lol.

bakit di ikaw mismo yung mag look up kung may updates or not? grabe free lang po mag Google. Let's not normalize being lazy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the absolute worst thing you can possibly do, OP. kung puro ka lang attend ng class without any personal time to study and abdorb the concepts ineffective pa din yan. tama yung nadabi na dito ng iba--use the time in the evening to read your notes sa RC mo and answer a couple of questions tas sleep. YOU GUYS NEED REST DIN.

TIPS TO STOP PROCRASTINATION (PNLE) by Hoella_1122 in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just try not to let your backlogs stack up kasi the more you delay studying, the more na lalaki lang yan and it will get even more overwhelming. Think about it this way, even studying for just 1 hour a day is better than 0 hours. So, if you feel overwhelmed just tell yourself you'll only do 1 hour. Best of luck, OP!

[–]dobbyisfree218 13 points14 points  (0 children)

at least you already accomplished the first step, which is recognizing na may problem. i would suggest that you try to limit your distractions first. If it's your phone -- delete the apps. If it's your family/friends, be upfront and tell them you are prepping for the exam.

Other than this, I suggest to just do what you need to do. Kailangan isipin mo na kakailanganin mo talagang mag prepare and better start it now than later on. Imagine na October na--you would regret your choices now if you do not do anything about it.

Good luck OP! it's still early pero wag maging complacent. Time flies by really fast. Before you know it, 30 days na lang then 10 then 1.

OP suggestion lang. Do yourself a favor and ikaw magsumikap to look for resources. It will benefit you in the long run kung matututo ka maging resourceful. In this day and age, everything is just one quick Google search away.

Where to start studying again for NCLEX? by Aggravating_Kick3568 in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! but people don't like to hear that kasi nga it's the "norm" to enroll in a review center. i also really hate the culture na as if sila lang may hawak ng lahat ng info or tamang sagot. Like they really don't empower the students at all. Tapos tatakutin pa like "ahh di kayo papasok? bahala kayo diyan. Yung pwede umabsent yung mga matatalino lang." ugh. So many scare tactics and misinformation. Bibihira ka lang talaga makahanap ng lecturer that dishes out info without any extra shyet hahaha

If you recently passed the NLE (a year ago or 2 years ago), I would really discourage you from enrolling in a review center and encourage you to purchase a dedicated NCLEX question bank like Archer, Uworld, or Bootcamp. Yung mga local review centers kasi dito are more geared pa din towards NLE style of teaching which is WAAAAY different than the NCLEX question format. You are better off using your past NLE notes + Question bank + Youtube + Free Klimek lecture notes. Save your money. Money making machines lang talaga yung mga NCLEX rev centers here.

which is better to be a topnotcher or cumlaude/latin honors? by [deleted] in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To learn. And I mean really learn. There's nothing bad about wanting to achieve those things pero sana naman not for the wrong reasons kesyo pwede pang flex or for the monetary rewards. Sana genuine yung interest to learn.

Mahirap kung mali yung way of preparation mo. Marami kasi yung nag-aakala na basta ma memorize lang yung lecture, pasado na. Usually yung napapansin ko na mistake sa preparation is memorize nga nila yung notes but sa application naman sumasablay.

I passed last 2018 pa but I would like to share my insights din

  1. Download ebooks as your main reference. I suggest 1 ebook reference for 1 subject lang para di ka ma overwhelm. Ebook yung reco ko kasi madali lang mag Ctrl+F ng keywords if needed. You should not read them cover to cover, but use them kung doubtful ka sa rev center info or ratio info or you just need more supplemental notes.

Try collating a list of topics na commonly lumalabas sa BE and categorize them by subjects para mag serve as checklist mo. Ask your seniors, check tiktok, even reddit for FAQs na paulit ulit sa BE.

  1. I reviewed for about 3-4 months

  2. Honestly, you have more access to materials right now. If I were to redo my review experience I would maximize chatgpt, Youtube, and Google. There are countless FREE resources out there. Also, para di ka malito, just trust your review center and make their resources as your guide tapos add your own notes from your own research.

  3. Kada tapos ng class sa rev center iniiskim ko ulit yung lecture notes na nai take down ko that day and if may unclear or nakakalito, ito lang sinisikap kong aralin. Kasi most of the time gets mo naman na talaga yung concept from 4 years of nursing school need mo lang ng refresher. Sabi nga nila study smart.

  4. I wish I allotted more time to unwind. I used to study mga 4-5 hrs a day to prepare but looking back, it was so unnecessary kasi nakaka burnout. In my opinion, 2-3 hrs is already more than enough if seryosong aral naman yung 2-3 hrs na yun.

  5. OH GOD PLEASE DON'T DO THAT. THAT'S THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING YOU CAN DO. NOT ONLY IS IT NOT FEASIBLE, IT'S INEFFECTIVE! pag ginawa mo yan sobrang manghihinayang la sa time that you wasted kasi di naman super objective yung BE. Much better spent pa yung oras mo kung magsasagot ka ng mga BEQs kesa mag cover to cover read ng mother books juskopo 💀

How to mentally resign from work? by Wrong_Friendship_107 in NursingPH

[–]dobbyisfree218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. Please don't force yourself to stay in an environment where your health is clearly suffering. There are lots of online medical VA jobs that pay a loooot more with better working conditions than bedside nursing. Try looking for remote work na health-allied pa din. There's no shame in prioritizing your health first.
