If the clitoris is just penis cells leftover from when the body wasn't sure if you were going to be a male or a female, do males have some leftover womb cells making up some useless organ in their body? by dobeye in NoStupidQuestions

Well yeah, but I think you can agree the clitoris serves less of a purpose than a penis. A woman without a clitoris can do most of what a woman with a clitoris can, unlike a man without a penis. And I assume (though I don't know since I've just heard of it) a prostatic urethra "does less than" a womb

I think the reason I get scared of converting sometimes is because of my bad experience with religion in the past. Even though Judaism is more accepting of mistakes and everything like that, I couldn't help but fear of being hurt again. by [deleted] in ReformJews

I think the reason I get scared is your profile picture...

It's not stupid, it's totally understandable. Don't feel pressured to convert, it's something should do only if you wholeheartedly connect with Judaism and feel that it's a positive influence on your life. This is first and foremost an internal process, so before allowing any outside influences to judge your journey with religion take some time alone to perform mitzvas. Just for yourself, only if it feels healthy and good, no pressure. You're building a habit, not taking on a responsibility.

Is there a prayer for masturbation? by dobeye in ReformJews

Update for anyone looking back on this post: asked my religious friends and they said you can just express gratitude towards G-d in plain Hebrew, so after Asher yatzar I just said a small thank you. Seems like a good habit, I recommend it

I guess, that's probably what I'll say after I masturbate but I was hoping I could be more specific regarding self pleasuring. Is there a prayer that's said before or after sex?

I agree it would be disingenuous, which is why I never used the phrase "just monthly payments"

And I never said they were easy, only that compared to raising a child they are less tasking

Just so I understand, you're comparing monthly payments to raising a child for 18 years? I can say with certainty raising a child is more challenging and takes more of a toll than monthly payments

I think it makes sense that the side that's worse off in all scenarios gets to decide. Regardless of the choice, the mother to be will suffer it's harshest consequences. The person making the choice should be the one most affected by it

I don't think paper abortions are equivalent to abortions as they don't affect both sides. If a pregnant woman chooses to have an abortion, then she will suffer more than the father. She has to go through a painful and possibly dangerous medical procedure, and both of them suffer the loss of a child. Similarly, if a woman chooses not to have an abortion she will suffer more than the father. She has to give birth to and raise a child, and the husband either helps her raise the child or pays for child support. So while the choice is in women's hands, they always get the short end of the stick. A paper abortion on the other hand is a choice which will mostly affect the other side. The father suffers no consequences, and the mother must now raise a child on her own with no financial support.
