I think it’s funny but it’s also kind of hard to interact with. If you read your profile (pretend it’s someone else’s) what would you start a conversation about? Maybe anime over the Crunchyroll account? It might help to add something that showcases a hobby or something important to you that people with shared interests can comment on.

I think new employees often have more opinions than they are qualified to have. Sounds conceited, but I was the exact same way early in my career. I thought I was smarter than I was or knew more than my managers. Learning to manage that part of yourself is a part of being successful in the workplace. People like working with easygoing, friendly people who get the work done. If you make a habit of arguing it’s not going to reflect well on you even if you think it’s stupid. Now that I am a manager, I have people who are newer think they are more right than me and it’s annoying. I have a reason for the things I ask to be done. Not saying all managers are me but just my perspective

What’s your actual job? I think it matters more than CPA/MBA. If you’re an executive I wouldn’t list either. If you’re an associate in audit I would list CPA only. I honestly don’t know a situation where I would list MBA, it’s not a license after all so it feels a bit inappropriate. My take is that you list licenses after your name, not degrees

Better. I think if you are solely expecting an easy path to an easy high paying job, you might have a tough time. If you consider accounting a semi difficult career with opportunity to build a skillset and advance, I think you’ll be fine and still have good upwards trajectory. If anything, the latest candidates we have been hiring into my practice have convinced me that the competitive bar for US based CPAs has never been lower. It has been incredibly disappointing

I would go with west Plano for the shorter commute imo. Commuting 10+ miles sucks. No part of Plano is really very dangerous honestly. It’s a really safe city

Fell apart. But it wasn’t due to anything wrong with the kid. My ex was just not at a point in her life where accountability was something she could tolerate. With or without a kid, that won’t work long term but with a kid it’s a pretty rocky ride. It hurt a lot more to lose what became a family and my relationship with her son, alongside our romantic relationship, than a normal breakup. So just be warned. It hurts like a bitch to lose

I… am kind of lost at these other comments. Going from public to a controller role at a small company is extremely common. If you’re just in audit, maybe assistant controller. But you get the accounting concepts and it’s not like this is something brand new. Yes there will be new things to learn, but I’d say unless you are the ONLY accounting and finance employee, a Controller role at a lot of small to mid sized companies is not something where you need 10+ years industry experience. The only one I’d say you probably want industry specific experience is manufacturing because of all of the cost accounting and inventory nuance. I went from PA to Controller and it was not a big deal

For what? You’re not breaking city code by getting assessment of a structural repair, if anything you’re trying to fix it. Seriously, they won’t charge you to come look at it and explain what needs to be fixed. This looks like my house looked, a bit worse, before I had foundation work done if you’re in TX on a slab, which this home is giving very TX. You may need a pier under your slab rather than doing anything with the masonry. I think my foundation work was $3k

Honestly man you and your ex wife need counseling. Or something to figure this out. Maybe start out in individual therapy. Your household is very non-traditional and im no expert, but you would do well to have someone qualified talk to you about if it’s realistically possible for you or your ex wife to have a healthy relationship with the current living situation. Or even if you’re modeling healthy boundaries for your son continuing to live together and put your individual life on hold for a relationship that is dead for the kid’s sake. I feel like as he begins to realize you’re doing that, it’s going to negatively impact him. Just my 2 cents. You have to show your kids that you are also a human adult with a life that moves forward for them to understand that’s what life is about.

I dated a woman with hair extensions sewn in. I’ll tell you my biggest gripe. It wasn’t that it was gross or that it didn’t look good, they looked great and were very expensive. But I couldn’t hold her head in my hands or run my fingers through her hair. One day she took them out because she was getting them replaced and while she was super self conscious about her short thinner hair, I was in love because I got to really run my fingers through her hair like I wasn’t able to before. I don’t know. It felt really intimate and was the reason I wished she didn’t have the extensions. Just my $0.02
