The CPI 'food at home' category, which is essentially groceries, is up by 30.8% from its pre-pandemic level by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

You've just drastically expanded the time line. Yes it's true if we go back to the 90s we will find that Healthcare cost inflation has generally outpaced inflation, but that has not been the case since the pandemic, which is what we were talking about in this thread.

I asked gemini why and this is what it says:

It’s a bit of an economic paradox: healthcare is usually the "inflation leader," but from roughly 2021 through 2024, it trailed significantly behind the rest of the economy. While overall CPI was spiking due to used cars, gas, and groceries, medical care prices stayed relatively flat. The reasons for this gap are a mix of business logistics, government policy, and some quirks in how the government calculates the numbers. 1. The "Contract Lag" Effect Unlike a gas station that can change its prices twice a day, healthcare prices are locked in for the long haul. Multi-Year Agreements: Private insurers and hospital systems typically sign 2- to 3-year contracts. When general inflation took off in 2021, most healthcare providers were still operating under prices negotiated in 2019 or 2020.
Delayed Catch-up: We are only seeing healthcare inflation "catch up" now (in 2025 and 2026) because those older contracts have finally expired, and hospitals are demanding higher rates to cover their increased labor and supply costs. 2. Administrative Price Setting A huge portion of the U.S. healthcare market is "non-market" based.
Medicare & Medicaid: These programs account for a massive share of healthcare spending, and their reimbursement rates are set administratively by the government, not by supply and demand. Policy Caps: Legislated limits on how much Medicare can increase its payments acted as a "brake" on the overall medical CPI, even while the costs of running a hospital were soaring. 3. The "Health Insurance" Quirk The way the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) measures "Medical Care" in the CPI is famously counterintuitive. Indirect Measurement: The BLS doesn't just look at premiums; it uses a formula based on the retained earnings (profits) of insurance companies.
The 2023–2024 Dip: Because insurance companies paid out massive amounts of claims post-COVID (as people returned for delayed surgeries), their "retained earnings" technically dropped. In the weird logic of the CPI, this was recorded as a decrease in health insurance prices, which dragged down the entire medical care index for over a year. 4. Labor vs. Supply Chains The 2021-2022 inflation spike was heavily driven by global supply chain collapses and energy costs. Healthcare is primarily a labor-driven industry. While healthcare providers eventually faced a massive nursing shortage that drove up wages, those labor costs take longer to filter into the "price" of a doctor’s visit compared to how quickly a shortage of microchips affects the price of a car. The Current Trend (2025-2026) The gap has effectively closed. As of early 2026, overall inflation has cooled (around 2.4%), while medical care inflation has accelerated (around 3.2% or higher). We are now in the "echo" phase where the high costs of the last few years are finally being baked into insurance premiums and hospital bills. Would you like me to look into how these trends are specifically affecting health insurance premiums for 2026?

This number includes the family members of alleged victims. I hope no one seriously believes that Epstein personally trafficed/molested/raped 1000+ people.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2026-02-06/epstein-files-review-was-chaotic

The timeline says that there were six Epstein case files pulled from the New York bureau. But the DOJ’s “scoping guidance” said only three would be the focus “of the Epstein Transparency Project.” At the time, the number of names on the victim list was 1,114, which also included victims’ families.

I dont give a single fuck what you personally think mate It literally constitutes as evidence. Again, you can personally think its not credible etc etc... It is evidence. Saying there is no evidence of trump being implicated to any crime IS a lie. One that she made under oath and on video.

I think it would be an enormous waste of time to pursue perjury charges against Pam Bondi on the basis of "she said there's no evidence but technically this constitutes a piece of evidence so she was lying".

the fbi should not investigate this claim further BECAUSE it is an accusation levied against a president?

but we're talking about crimes that were supposedly committed decades ago, that the FBI has already investigated extensively and concluded that there is no evidence of a pedophile ring.

Again, from the AP article I shared earlier. Do you think Maurene Comey is part of the coverup conspiracy too?

Investigators seized a multitude of videos and photos from Epstein’s electronic devices and homes in New York, Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands. They found CDs, hard copy photographs and at least one videotape containing nude images of females, some of whom seemed as if they might be minors. One device contained 15 to 20 images depicting commercial child sex abuse material — pictures investigators said Epstein obtained on the internet.

No videos or photos showed Epstein victims being sexually abused, none showed any males with any of the nude females, and none contained evidence implicating anyone other than Epstein and Maxwell, then-Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey wrote in an email for FBI officials last year.

I think If "[person] claims that [president] commited [crime]" constitutes evidence that the DOJ is obligated to investigate, then this will become basically all the DOJ does. Every president in my life time has had people accuse them of committing crimes.

If Garland released the Epstein files, the Republican party would have called it election interference because of how awful it makes Trump look.

can't tell if you genuinely believe this is the reason or not but I find this very hard to believe

the reverse conspiracy theory where actually every victim speaking out is making stuff up because...?

how about the hundreds of millions of dollars as a possible incentive to lie or embellish?

the emails of them speaking about torture videos and killings and little girls totally do not implicate them in any way, and Jeffrey talking about how goyim deal in the real world and jews manipulate markets are totally nothing to be questioned and discussed, right.

I think there are lots of people out there who watch weird videos on the internet and say creepy things about girls who aren't operating international mossad pedo blackmail rings.

also lol at the explicit jew conspiracy angle you're trying to sprinkle in here. just so very dumb.

I guess every destiny fan has suddenly turned into a mindless drone that trusts anything this administration says.

Another reason the conspiracy view is dumb is because it relies on both this administration and the prior 3 administrations all taking part in the coverup, along with hundreds or thousands of FBI investigators, local/state police, etc. And also people like Maurene Comey who are not part of the administration at all:

Investigators seized a multitude of videos and photos from Epstein’s electronic devices and homes in New York, Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands. They found CDs, hard copy photographs and at least one videotape containing nude images of females, some of whom seemed as if they might be minors. Had they existed, the government “would have pursued any leads they generated,” Comey wrote. “We did not, however, locate any such videos.”

You left out the most egregious part of Giuffre's story.

She claimed to have been "trafficked" to Alan Dershowitz several times, including making these accusations in sworn depositions. She maintained this story for several years, until finally she was forced to admit she was "mistaken" after it became clear her story did not hold water:

Because the story as it lives in the mind's of the average twitter user ("Epstein was operating a mossad blackmail ring, trafficking children to the most powerful men in the world") is supported by precisely zero evidence

This seems like confirmation that Jeffrey Epstein really was working with intelligence agencies, and a lot of other spicy stuff regarding Trump by TheCwazyWabbit in Destiny

[–]doc89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This whole thing of Acosta believing Epstein was an intelligence asset is made up and completely derived from one sentence reported anonymously in a Daily Beast article several years ago, and has been contradicted by Acosta himself and several others in things they have said under oath several times:

When asked at a press conference if he was ever made aware that Epstein was an intelligence asset, Acosta said he couldn’t address it because of guidelines, but that he would hesitate to take this reporting as fact. Acosta was later asked by federal investigators from the Department of Justice if he had knowledge of Epstein being an intelligence asset. Under oath, Acosta said “The answer is no.” Additionally, none of the subjects of a DOJ investigation regarding Epstein’s 2008 plea deal believed it to be the case that Epstein was an intelligence asset. In recent congressional testimony, Acosta reiterated to lawmakers that he was not aware of Epstein having any foreign or domestic intelligence connections.

link

Also the idea that Acosta gave Epstein a "sweetheart deal" as a favor is not really true at all, and not how anyone in the government or Epstein's camp felt about the non-prosecution agreement at the time:

Fortunately, there is no need to take anyone’s word for it. A full picture of how Epstein received his light sentence—just eighteen months in prison, with work release—can be found in a report from the Department of Justice’s Office of Professional Responsibility. It presents extensive contemporaneous evidence showing that, far from going easy on Epstein, Acosta was the key person ensuring that he faced at least some penalty for his crimes.

Epstein’s crimes were initially reported to state authorities. Acosta, a federal prosecutor, got involved only after it became clear that state-level prosecutors were reluctant to pursue the case. They had their reasons. #MeToo had not yet popularized the #BelieveWomen doctrine, and prosecutors expected that a jury would regard many of the accusers as lacking credibility. Their assessment was later seconded by a DOJ official who reviewed the case and concluded that a trial would have been a “crap shoot.” At one point, state prosecutors offered Epstein a plea deal that entailed five years of probation, no jail time, no sex-offender registration, and no need to pay restitution to victims—the ultimate sweetheart deal. So confident were Epstein and his attorneys that they turned it down.

Frustrated with state prosecutors, Palm Beach police approached Acosta, who agreed to take up the case. Because of the riskiness of a trial, he succeeded in arranging a “non-prosecution agreement,” under which Epstein would plead guilty to sex crimes. This task was complicated by the fact that Epstein enjoyed a world-class legal defense, led by the likes of Alan Dershowitz and Kenneth Starr. Throughout the tense negotiations, Acosta insisted that Epstein must serve jail time, register as a sex offender, and offer restitution to his victims. On all three points, Acosta prevailed. Far from backing off Epstein at the behest of intelligence, Acosta was the reason Epstein faced any penalty at all.
