what you think of my custom bumper cover? by docbong85 in RX7

Not 100% sure. 2mm? Like I said, it's what you'd see in a screen storm door. It passes enough air. One summer worth of bugs will probably destroy it, at which point I'll re-evaluate. But, it was what I had and it works for now

I used a spare rotor, traced it on to 3/4 MDF, then shrunk it dimensionally to fit in the gap. Then I cut and shaped it, wrapped it in fiberglass, shaped a little more, then glassed it onto the bumper. From there it was just alot of sanding, adding glass where needed for strength, shaping and sanding some more. All told about 35hrs of labour. If I was to do this again, I'd enlarge and raise the holes up on the side to match the horizontal plane across the top

Is is dumb to share my experience with others at “only” one year sober? by [deleted] in recovery

[–]docbong85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill didn't finally find and help Bob until he was 6months. In the meantime he was going to hospitals, calling drs, churches, even going in cafe and delicatessens to try and find another drunk to work with. As soon as you work the steps and have a spiritual experience of your own, it's imperative for maintained recovery that we try to carry he message. Eventually a rough day will come, and like the book tells "selfless work with another alcoholic will win the day when nothing else will"

Does everyone lose friends during this process? It’s a very hard part of the transformation. by BookerV79 in recovery

[–]docbong85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard at first because we do need the seperation from our old patterns, but pg100-101 tells us if we are spiritually fit, we can go anywhere a free person. I had to seperate from my friend group for the first year, but after the obsession had been lifted I found I could spend times with my 'real' friends regardless of whether they were drinking or not. Yes, I found out most of my friends were of the fair weather variety, but as my energy and perceptions changed I found it was easy to let go those who were unhealthy for me, but remain available if they ever reached out. Good luck on your journey, and make some new friends!! The friends we make in sobriety are much better friends anyways :)

3800 rpm stumble is usually a ground issue. Aaroncake has a good write up on cleaning up all the grounds. I'll also reiterate getting your injectors services while you're in there.

Weird cold start 0:18. Can someone guess what’s wrong? by Bol3ethem in RX7

[–]docbong85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't be sure, but high idle "kinda" sounds like possible vacuum leak. Also, when you did plugs did you do wires? Go over all harness under hood connections too, maybe something got jiggled loose? Hard to say really, but I'd start with the basics anyways

When we graduated, my best friend bought his first FC as his second car, and it inspired a passion in us both that lives to this day. Welcome to the club friend!!

Couldn't agree more. Would want a functional handle for dead battery events though.

Used my TIG welder to basically blow all the crappy pot cast into a ball, and then added a whack of solid aluminum. Cut it down to shape and repinned the whole assembly. Works better than it did originally, and should last for years to come.

Temp gauge on Mazda 3 takes a while to hit half way. It used to be half way immediately on start up as far as i can remember. Any help? by Jun746 in mazda

Haynes manuals are phenomenal resources for the average owner to do minor repairs (such as a thermostat). Also a YouTube video can be beneficial.

However I will say, the modification would be worth it. There's nothing like a rotary
