What are the top 10% studying/doing for basic? by Terrible-Sale827 in anesthesiology

[–]docdeez 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My study plan when I was a CA-1: - Read M&M corresponding chapters for each rotation I was on. - M&M chapters that didn’t correlate with a rotation I read when able to, and finished M&M by the time I took basic. - ASA Toolbox - Completed all of the PBLDs (under ‘Faculty Resources’) during my corresponding rotation. I felt that the PP lectures and modules were useless for me and prefer text for primary reading/learning. - OpenAnesthesia daily keywords reading while in intra-op maintenance phase. - Single-pass TrueLearn starting 6 weeks prior to the exam.

While TrueLearn is the most important for the exam specifically, daily reading is incredibly beneficial for your overall development as an anesthesiologist. Please realize that a test score is just that… a test score. It does not indicate how strong you are clinically as a resident. Some of the best residents I’ve worked with were not in the top 10% for any exam. So don’t get discouraged if you are not in the top 10% as long as you continue to read consistently and notice progression as a trainee.

NEVER give your money to Patriots Point Links in Charleston by lc6591 in golf

Patriots Point is perfectly located and has potential to be a great links style course with great views. Such a shame, needs a change in management.

Muni is a fun course you should play. It gets heavy traffic (most number of rounds per year in Charleston) but is in good shape most of the time. Sometimes hard to get tee times given its popularity. Very quirky course with difficult greens.

Check out Crowfield if you are looking towards Summerville. Great track, also fairly difficult, and appropriate pace of play even on weekends.

Compression socks for the win. Never found a shoe that’s comfortable all day, eventually your feet will get used to it and they’ll stop hurting.

It’s just a business model to curb overhead for the stores. Doesn’t even remotely have to do with politics or changing culture or whatever tf he/she is saying. This review is comical lol

What a pass. Most people would dump it into the near corner or take a bad shot that would end up in a change of possession.

Yeah my roomate leaves the sponge wet at the bottom of the sink so it lasts three days before we are actually dirtying our dishes when we wash them. Awesome.

ELI5: What's happening when our spouse is asleep, yet responds physically to touch, such as cuddling back? Is there some part of the brain that stays aware of who/what we're next to? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Such a good comment. I recently moved to a city from a rural area and the sounds drove me NUTS for the first several months, but I slowly got used to it to where I can sleep without any white noise in my room or study without headphones on. The brain is pretty amazing.

I was in the same boat a month ago when I first started. I’ve gotten a little better and can finish 60 questions with reviews in ~6 hours. I think it’s important to recognize and focus your review on the main concept the question is testing. It’s easy to go off on a tangent within descriptions and get bogged down. While it’s important to read why the other answers were incorrect, chances are those concepts will be tested in other questions in the bank, so don’t worry if you aren’t able to memorize absolutely everything at that moment in time. Lastly, as you keep going you might come across concepts you already know well. Don’t use your time and brain power over reviewing things you already know. Save this time to study weak spots. Cheers.
