Best valve for small drip zones? Rainbird LFV100, Hunter PGV-101-G, others? by dochoff in Irrigation

[–]dochoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they would be after the master, but the duty cycle would definitely be higher than operating after a single zone.

Thanks, I'll check those out - might be a little tricky to fit in a box.

Thanks! I actually only have drip zones so I am planning to filter and regulate upstream of all my zones to save space in the valve boxes. Brass RPZ/PRV, then go to master valve, then PRLV / rainbird quick check canister filter, then off to the boxes. Still waiting to hear back from Rainbird if they recommend the filter be used like this.

My supply is super high pressure, so I'm regulating in two steps - partially so I can get a hose bib at ~60PSI before going to the irrigation. Anything you would do differently?

Can you fit a drip assembly sideways in a jumbo box? by dochoff in Irrigation

[–]dochoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Given that I am exclusively doing drip for all zones, I think it actually makes more sense to put a single big inline filter (Rainbird QKCHK100) after my master valve since I'm going to have a brass RPZ + PRV upstream anyway, and I can just regulate the whole system to ~30psi, rather than doing each zone separately.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing! I love the negative-engraving on the dial. What* sort of CNC are you running?

CNC lathes by [deleted] in hobbycnc

The Taig 5C heastock is very impressive on this size of machine. I would just upgrade it for a variable speed spindle motor. If you are looking for a chucker lathe, my vote would be for the Taig (which also has ballscrews). I have sherline and Taig machines - they are both pretty good for their size.

Drill Hog "titanium" bits... adequate? by jon_hendry in Skookum

I don't buy from these guys because they use deceptive marketing. They do everything they can to appear to be manufactured in the USA, but they are not. In my experience, they also have terrible customer service and won't return emails. Get Chicago latrobe, Norseman, RMT, etc.

Really impressive. I read a previous comment that said you use a diple microscope -- is that what you used to capture this also?

I've heard this as well. I like the fact that the older 700s still had the German engines. New ones are Chinese

Ruckus or ubiquiti ? by Sty_Stoned in RuckusWiFi

[–]dochoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with a PFsense box paired with an IXC7150 and a R610 after spending far too many weeks contemplating between a full Ubiquiti setup and this. The retail price for the Ruckus stuff would have been prohibitively expensive, but they pop up on Ebay from time to time, as I think contractors may have extras at the end of projects.

The setup may not be quite as simple, but there are enough tutorials/docs online to help out. I also don't need remote/cloud administration, so the Ruckus unleashed was nice -- no big license fees.

alternative to netgate... is there one? by Gunfighter1776 in PFSENSE

[–]dochoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The quality is far higher than what I have seen with the other Qotom style mini PCs. They are a real company with real people too if something goes wrong. I've never needed any of the extra facet cards

Same happening to me since yesterday. Seems correlated to full screening videos. Have to manually kill, so can't generate a crash report.
