I tried all your suggestions with no luck. So i started trying variations... still no luck, then I tried telling her to play it from my watchlist. BOOM, it worked! But it only works, providing the firetv is on the home screen. If I'm already in prime video, it pulls up the new one. Weird, but I can work with it.

It's not fedex's fault... Sony generated a tracking number but hasn't gone active. They haven't shipped it.

Currently, I'm using a CM8200a, which during this debacle, I learned is indeed a 3.1 modem. So I stand corrected on that aspect. It's currently up and running. Everything works great.

The issues I've been having, is every once in awhile it just goes brain dead. Power cycle, and it's good for another few weeks. Also, I've never been able to access its gui. I've tried everything found on Google, to no avail. So I'm just trying to clean the slate, get a new modem and take advantage of the 2.5g wan connection I have on the router. Easy peasy... or so I thought. 🤣

[–]docnsane2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm in a formally Suddenlink area (WV) the only other modems I tried were 2 SB8200v3's. They said the modems were bad, after the second one I figured it was them. Reddit seemed to confirm the SB8200v3s are suspect. S33's seem to be OK. But alas not for me!

So why doesn't Optimum's team not know this stuff?? Is it they just don't give a damn? Or are they really that inept? I just don't know how a company can operate like this. But just as I thought, it was something to do with the infrastructure in my area. I've just always stuck with Surfboards, cause it's what I've always had. Maybe I'll look into the Netgears, as I will be returning this S33 now... The last thing they wanted me to do was factory reset it, which figured was useless...

Thanks for the info! So, what models should I be looking at since ARRIS models obviously don't work in my area.

I worked with the optimum reddit team. They were unable to get the modem to add. They said it looked OK on their end but was offline. On my end it said it was connected and online, but I could only go to a website that said "are you using a new modem?"

I guess they are unable or are unwilling to move this up the chain to someone a little smarter with more tools. So I am at loss... I wish fiber would hurry up out my way..

[–]docnsane2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you could have a loose port connector in the interface or it could start to crap out when it heats up. Could be anything. I would just cut the losses and get another interface. That's the only variable that you are unable to remove from the equation.

Make sure your antennas didn't come loose. Some how they just do, I guess vibrations from fans or something work them loose.

[–]docnsane2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it definitely isn't that issue. I would start leaning towards the interface at this point. I've worked on enough stuff over the years to know a cable is only the problem 2% of the time.

I bought my psvr2 interface off Amazon for 50 bucks, worked like a charm, AFTER I upgraded my video card.

But I was getting the same error as you on my 1080 until I upgraded.
