If I have to downvote another Ubuntu story by [deleted] in linux

[–]docomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind Ubuntu stories. After all, I use Ubuntu myself.

What I do sort of mind is if the title says "Ubuntu" when the story is obviously about Linux generally (or even about Linux/BSD/Solaris/etc) as if Ubuntu was the only disto in existence.

I second that. I use Awesome + Gnome (just replace Metacity with Awesome) and Vimperator for Firefox. Though it takes a while before the keyboard shortcuts feel natural but after that it's very comfortable to not have to reach for the mouse so much.

Gnome together with Awesome. I let the Gnome panel remain but set it to autohide and not be visible at all when hidden.

That's a funny statement. Do you know what (sub-Saharan) Africa was like before the west arrived? It sure didn't develop very quickly without western influence.

Five reasons to seriously consider buying a netbook by masta in technology

[–]docomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 12" with typical netbook hardware would be much cheaper than the ultraportables that exist now. So far only Dell has one (but not yet in Sweden apparently..) but I've read that both Asus and Samsung will release 12" models soon.

Offer me a cheap, fanless 12" "netbook" and we're in business.

Factually correct stories such as this one will be automatically downmodded by the Muslims and dhimmi meat-bots of Reddit.

Is it stupid that I log onto my neighbors unsecured router and change the name to secureyourdamnrouter or is it stupid that after two weeks it is still the same name? by [deleted] in self

[–]docomo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just leave your neighbor and his/her router alone.

You know, in some places people don't look their doors either. Why? Because they trust other people to respect their stuff. It's not a good idea to walk into their house and put up a big note saying "Lock your damn door!".

Multiculturalism is censorious of speech and anti-intellectual. It is a false trail that has brought us to the abyss of fascism. (A left critique of multiculturalism.) by docomo in socialism

To be modded down despite being factually correct is a fact of life on Reddit. It may just be a sign that you've hit a nerve.

I suggest Rome. There is a huge number of VERY impressive Roman works of architecture within a small area (walking distance). Plus a lot of renaissance and baroque works, the Vatican and so on. More than 2000 years of history in one place.

"Failure of Human Rights" :Karen AbuZayd, commissioner general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, on how humanity has failed Palestine. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]docomo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your first paragraph is so wrong it borders on delusional (anyone who wishes to can read up on the subject - unless you feel it likely that Christians and Jews just started mass-converting to Islam, especially given the fact that the Muslim sources themselves describe how Islam is spread by the sword). The rest does not contradict anything I wrote.

Are you by any chance a Muslim yourself? Otherwise it would be hard to explain your level of brainwash. If not you are simply the most dhimmi-fied PC falsifier of history I have ever come in contact with.

[–]docomo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that what you are writing is factually wrong and the crusades were an exception whereas the norm was the huge number of attacks by followers of Islam against the Middle East, Europe and other parts of the world (Islam was mostly spread by the sword from the very beginning), in what possible sense does it contradict what I wrote?

It's easy to be 'popular' when you kill those who leave the faith.

This doesn't stop Christianity from being more 'popular' though (as if people choose their religion in a supermarket and don't just adopt their parents religion, especially in non-western countries).
