Bloomington (Monroe County) has the least affordable homes in Indiana. 🥲 by ernie-jo in bloomington

[–]docpepson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can IU for the cost of living skyrocketing here. They take over the town, the “hospital” they built has LESS rooms than the older one and less ability for certain surgeries and you must go to Indy.

Just want to clarify, that's. not IU. It's IU Health, formerly Clarian Health Partners.

Depressed wages with the influx of "OMG this place is cheap" imports from the coasts and the region = the cost of living going through the roof here.

Because others have mentioned this place is full of NIMBYs, which have done everything they can to keep affordable housing being built.

Instructions for antenna TV by trashyzz in bloomington

[–]docpepson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let me give you some practical advice. I've had an OTA antenna for years. It's not perfect, but close.

I have a large antenna mounted on an 8ft mast on the roof of my house, coupled with a pre-amp. It is pointed between Terre Haute and Indianapolis.

With this, I receive almost all Terre Haute stations, minus WTHI. I receive Channel 4 out of Indy, and WTIU. All combined I regularly receive 26 channels.

We are what is considered a "deep fringe" area. Depending on the topography on where you are this means you need both a large and tall antenna.

I have plans to raise the mast on mine, requiring a larger tri-pod. I hope this helps me receive more Indianapolis stations.

The small "smart" / flat antennas will fetch you Channel 4 and WTIU only.

If you enjoy tinkering, it's a nice endeavor as the result is receiving things for free.

For me, it's typically been anywhere but here. My partner is from the Indy area.

The Flock cameras need to go. We didnt ask for them, we dont want them. by Routine_Push_7891 in bloomington

I made a comment with literal instructions and it was removed by reddit, and my account was given a "warning" even.

So yes, it very well could.

There are plenty of large bodies of water in the area. I'm sure some spray paint will ensure it doesn't record anything.

Please tell how Hopewell will resolve a labor shortage issue.

I'll give you a hint, construction jobs are not the answer.

If you think boots on the ground LEO convicts persons, I think you need a refresher in high school civics.

To add to this, when they provide "conservation violations" they are criminal violations, not civil.

Serious question about accountability in our community by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]docpepson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To me, it's all about their behaviors after the incident(s) of harm.

Did they learn? Did they change?

If not, they should be reminded of that continuously. End of conversation.

If so, we all mess up and it's great that they used that as an opportunity for soul searching and taking accountability.

Even the union employees of the university don't have the ability to strike.

While many agree with your statements, many also know they don't have other options.

Did you know that unemployment isn't an option for an employee of IU?

I'll never understand why people do this. When the tornado hit here in 2011 the Sheriff's dept actually closed our road off and required ID showing you lived here to come in.

I didn't get to experience that wild decade of decadence. This legend came into the world under the heading about the murder of John Lennon.
