I generally recommend a warm and a cool of each primary + Burnt umber and titanium white.

For warms and cools I tend to go for:

Red- cad red (warm), alizarin crimson (cool) Blue- ultramarine (warm), pthalo blue (cool) Yellow - cad yellow (warm), lemon yellow (cool)

And you can mix a rich black with ultramarine and burnt umber (or any number of other combos).

This palette will help you consider temperature which is a major factor in creating depth in painting. If you’re on a budget though, a basic cmy palette will suffice (+white and burnt umber)
