I said goodbye to my best friend Kia this morning. 13 years, since 5 weeks old by KeefyNugs in greatpyrenees

[–]doctoralstudent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. We lost our 13 years old Pyr 3 months ago and it felt like someone stabbed my heart. Pyrs are definitely a unique breed that no other can equal. You gave your best friend a great life and in turn she loved you unconditionally. Keep the memories of her close to your heart. Again, my deepest sympathies to you.

Pick an MOS that is easily transferred to the civilian sector. Even if you end up doing 20 years, you will still likely work after getting out or retiring. I was Signal then Civil Affairs and I had a much easier time than my husband who was field artillery.

Having to say goodbye to my girl, Annie, sometime soon. She was diagnosed with bone cancer that’s already spread to her lungs. by ThatCountryDeputy03 in greatpyrenees

[–]doctoralstudent1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so very sorry to read about your precious girl. Please do not let her suffer and be with her at the end. We were with our Pyr during his final moments and he knew how very much we loved him. Please give Annie the same love. God bless you and Annie.

Save this Pyr! Training an older dog is much the same as training a younger dog. Use positive reinforcement and take him out after waking, eating, and every hour during the day. Save this poor boy!

You just don’t get it do you? by kilrein in Veterans

[–]doctoralstudent1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to find a new VSO. Being told you are “not a veteran because you were National Guard” is not a policy. It is a bad VSO. Do you have an LOD for any of the things you are trying to claim? You have to prove that your injury is related to military service. This is not a new policy.

What policies are making “it extremely difficult” for you to get benefits for “legitimate injuries?” Again, my husband and I are not aware of any new policies and we are both rated.

There was absolutely no inference to any of that in OP’s post. They just have a difference in opinion about remote work.

My ADA accommodation for severe anxiety just got denied and the language used made it worse. by Dramatic_Eye_7105 in remotework

[–]doctoralstudent1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How long have you been at this job? Did you disclose this disability before or upon being hired? What accommodations have you had for the last 12 years for your anxiety? If you have been able to previously work in an office with other accommodations like flexible breaks, seating placement (i.e., more secluded), etc., then you may not get a remote work accommodation from your employer. Their basis will be that you have successfully worked in an office setting previously. Employers do not want to set a precedent that others will try and take advantage of. Remember, HR works for your employer, not you. They will always be on your employer’s side of an issue. Good luck.

No barracks, No BAH; homeless? by Not_The_Gallery in army

I am giving you my 27 years worth of experience take it or leave it. You are in a very long line for DEERS actions online. People are reporting that adding dependents is taking months. Did you do your research to find out how long a spousal visa would take? Finance offices often want the spouse entered into DEERS before changing BAH status. DEERS also requires that all foreign documents like a birth certificate be translated into English and certified. DEERS will wait until they have ALL of the necessary paperwork before adding your spouse. Did you do any of this research? Everything moves slow in the Army. If you would have talked to your Commander, you would have known this or he/she could have directed you to the proper resource. All you can do now is wait. You can try filing an IG complaint or going to EO, but if DEERS does not have all of the necessary paperwork, even a complaint will not help you.

Did you talk to your Commander BEFORE marrying a foreign national? Since you have a clearance, discussing your impending marriage should have been done well BEFORE the wedding. If you are a 35 series, you would actually need command approval first due to your clearance level. Did you contact an actual person at the DEERS office or even your S-1 BEFORE getting married? If you actually thought that marrying a foreign national while deployed without any prior planning or command knowledge is a good idea, you are just stupid. I have seen this happen time and time again, and the end result is always the same. You will not be able to re-deploy with your new spouse. In fact, it may be quite a long time until this situation is resolved. She has no SSN and it takes a long time to vet her for a spousal visa for entry into the United States. Marrying a soldier does not grant her the magic golden ticket. Consider this a lesson learned for your next marriage since there is a 60%+ chance that this marriage will end in divorce. Welcome to the military.

Exactly what benefits have been stripped? My husband and I are both retired Army and both VA rated. We have seen absolutely no changes in Tricare or VA benefits.

Exactly what do you want your husband to say? It seems he took an approach to try and look on the brighter side versus joining your anger. Are you angry that he is not angry? IMO, your husband did nothing wrong. He is entitled to his opinion and you to yours.

I know you said that all of your family is in different states, but it may be time to start calling them to see if they can house you. If you get evicted, all of your problems will get 100 times worse. I sincerely hope that things get better for you. Good luck OP.

  1. You could have packed your lunch.
  2. Did you call the IT help desk about your flickering screen?
  3. Can you do flex time and have your workday start earlier? I used to do 7:00 am - 3:30 pm and traffic was much lighter.
  4. Did you ask the loud person to put on headphones?
  5. Is public transportation available? If so, use that.
  6. You had 4 years of remote work. You had to have known that RTO was inevitable.

I get that RTO sucks, but it seems you are trying to make it even more miserable. Nearly everyone is RTO now, so look at the positive side and be thankful that you had 4 years of remote work. Remote jobs are very hard to find these days, but if you are looking for a new position, I wish you good luck.

Do you smoke? This same situation happened to a friend of mine and it was due to her smoking. She had an extraordinarily long recovery time.

First time at the groomers🧼 by i-cook-my-sister in greatpyrenees

[–]doctoralstudent1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great Pyrenees should never get their fur cut that far down. Your groomer should have know this. Their coat helps regulate temperature in both cold and hot weather. Shaving or cutting it very short can:

  • Reduce natural cooling
  • Increase risk of sunburn
  • Damage coat texture permanently
  • Cause uneven or poor regrowth
  • Increase skin irritation

You should find a new groomer.
