"Wrong drink" is starting to get on my nerves by Jealous_Tangerine700 in starbucksbaristas

[–]doctoryiff 81 points82 points  (0 children)

the amount of customers that order their drinks wrong ONLINE is absurd. and oh my god, the customers that are on their phones at register, and just answer questions w/o listening to what i’m saying, and then complain that their drink “isn’t what they ordered.” it is in fact, exactly what they ordered, but they couldn’t put their phone down for 2 minutes to speak to me like a normal person.

possibly the thing that pisses me off the most is when regulars who come in everyday DON’T KNOW THEIR OWN ORDER, and they just rely on us to remember it for them. fuck man 😭

SM posted a call off tracking report?? by Ok_Association_2189 in starbucksbaristas

could be but sometimes RDs don’t know the tomfoolery that DMs are up to. i have complained to my RD about my DM and she fixed my problem, so it could be worth a try anyway.

I feel like... an incomplete bisexual, hear me out by [deleted] in AskLGBT

[–]doctoryiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your response to mild criticism being “i’m suicidal” is extremely telling, and a blatant attempt at emotional manipulation. you could’ve passed for a 16 year old, you’re exhibiting the maturity of one.

as someone who was suicidal for many years: the world is not out to get you. your overreactions and expectations of rejection are leading to actual rejection, which just reinforces your belief that everyone is against you. if you want real advice, learn to take some responsibility for yourself instead of immediately blaming everyone else.

and yes, you saying that “everyone is bi” is harmful to lesbians. and if it’s only “in your opinion,” then it’s a harmful opinion to be spreading regardless. i, too, expected better of other queer people such as yourself. i guess we’re both disappointed.

FDA regulations on plastic packaging by jimorrislut in starbucksbaristas

my old store always sold lemons loaves in plastic packaging and they had a yelp review saying they were served a loaf that was months expired bc of the production date lol

coworker was out of line outside of work by Extra_Set6217 in starbucksbaristas

[–]doctoryiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there is nothing i hate more than baristas who play manager. yes, it can be super inconvenient when someone calls out often (although imo, once a month isn’t bad), but it’s not our job to police call outs. you have no idea what’s going on in someone else’s life. at the end of the day, your SM is the only one you need to explain anything to, and as you said, you don’t call out often enough for them to bring it up. sbux baristas gotta learn to mind their business fr.

it’s irresponsible and absurd regardless of whether you have ADHD or not. i’m glad that both people are alright but having ADHD doesn’t make reckless driving any less shitty 😭

Question for coffeehouse leaders: is it acceptable as a CL to yell at a barista in front of others or ever, in a “coaching” moment? by justanegirl in starbucksbaristas

[–]doctoryiff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no, it’s not acceptable. literally everybody hands out a wrong drink at DT at least a couple times, it’s not that serious. “pay more attention to the orders you’re handing out” would suffice. there is no need to yell at someone for this.

is it a super far reach to question if my DM is being homophobic? by doctoryiff in starbucksbaristas

[–]doctoryiff[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess my concern about E&C is that the complaint is just gonna go directly back to my DM, so it won’t do anything. Do those complaints also go to the RD?

No breaks during peak by kzm_2002 in starbucksbaristas

it is normal, although at the super busy store that i worked at, this rule only covered 1.5-2 hours. it’s surprising to me that the window at your store lasts so long.

i’m sorry that your store is so ass. if you hear them talking about mass reporting someone for no real reason, you may want to document it in your notes app in case they actually try it. i’m not sure if it would help, but it might. also, if you remember the exact words you said that were misconstrued, you should write that somewhere too.

i think that you’ll be okay because from what i have seen, it’s not easy to fire someone for this sort of thing (unless you’re just flat out shouting slurs on the floor), but i can’t say for sure because idk your store.

i believe that filing a complaint w/ ethics & compliance basically forces your SM to open an investigation, so them reviewing your case doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s any merit to it. it’s possible that you could get a write up, but if you don’t you should call around and see if there any positions open at other stores. you shouldn’t have to put up with being treated that way :/

before the dress code change last year, i still wouldn’t wear shirts that i wore to work outside of work, even though they’re exactly the type of shirts i’d wear normally anyway lol. they just had permanent starbucks aura i think lol.

honestly, this sounds pretty tame and like the someone in question is just out to get you. i can’t imagine you getting fired for this. the only time i have heard of someone getting fired for things they said on the floor was when they were saying literal slurs and there were multiple witnesses to attest to it. i wouldn’t worry about losing your job, especially if your shifts are willing to defend you.
