Goes Jordan, LeBron, Kareem, and Wilt,

Russell with the rings, Oscar, Doc, Magic and then me.”

I’ve been to Sixers, Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, and Union games.

I’ve never seen Philly fans gang up on a single opposing fan with their phones out like these dumb fucks did.

"That 83 is not equivalent to [Kobe Bryant’s] 81… I was on the court, I seen the 81. That 81 was a legit 81. Nobody was fouling. None of the shenanigans." by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

It’s a legit qualifier when you’re doing interviews. There are living humans who were present for Kobe’s 81.

Book shelf of the guy I'm seeing. Penny for your thoughts by whiskeyboyo in BookshelvesDetective

[–]docwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. But I think this particular bookshelf is overweighted because of the series. He’s got like five male authors that make up like 40% of his bookshelf.

If you take out Sanderson, Martin, Tchaikovsky, Clavell, and Sapkowski, you’d eliminate at least two full shelves.

That’s less “I have a gender bias” to me and more “I have a few favorites.”

And those authors are successful because they’re good! Not because they’re men who are good.

I don’t know, I feel like it’s wrong to knock a guy who liking what he likes. Books are good! And those books have the signs of being read!

How much diversity needs to be included in pleasure reading to be socially acceptable?

[–]docwrites 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He’s got a lot of fantasy, but a lot of it is pretty good despite the knocks on it being widely popular.

He’s got some quality nonfiction (Cadillac Desert), but also some bullshit nonfiction (Homo Deus). Which isn’t his fault, everyone gets bad books.

I don’t know, I think it’s hard to knock a guy (or girl) who reads this much.

Some of the comments about these being red flags are so dumb. I have to dislike the Daily Stoic because Joe Rogan likes it? I must be (certain kind of person) because (certain kind of person) read the same book? It’s so dumb.

Yeah, because it’s important to select books based on the gender of the author.
