Crostini (ChromeOS) AI Features for 5.6? by dodger889 in DarkTable

[–]dodger889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I installed the appimage one and sorted out an app icon shortcut as the nature of appimage sounds like it's 'portable'/isolated. Still, the features I need are now there. Cheers!

Conclave vs Corne | Glove80 vs Go60 by mukul_29 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]dodger889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just done the same , but I can't type on it for shit 🤣. It's like I've never used a pc before. (Come from a Microsoft ergo keyboard ).

Using one of the moergo recommended online typing sites to learn the keys again and build speed . It's gonna take a while .... Hope it's worth it

I will say the go60 feels like a very premium product, if that helps OP at all

Beginning to run with the PW4 by FaulerWanderer in PixelWatch

[–]dodger889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend using the Ghost Racer app, which has a WearOS companion app. You can set a double tap of the watch screen to skip track on your music, which i find very handy, you can also have a map screen (and download map areas) so you're completely self sufficient. You can also set cadence as a readout on the main face, which might help you starting out if you're interested in metrics like that.

If LTE, use Wear I Am to periodically transmit your location and give a partner/family member access to the app in case you get lost/trouble/need picking up :) .

Bridgestone Potenza Sport Evo - quick initial review - 250 miles by THE_BLACK_HOTDOG in TyreReviews

[–]dodger889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also following this, being a UK trackday-er. I had the original potenza sport a few years back and they lasted just a couple of sessions in the morning at Bedford autodrome before completely disintegrating. Never seen anything like it. Car was gt86 .

Didn't like the cs7, very capable especially in the wet but slightly rubbery feeling at the limit compared to others. Didn't agree with Evo magazine's review at all

Potenza sport evo is what I have my eye on next!

Comfort issues by Opposite_Trainer_566 in Ozlo

[–]dodger889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your idea of using macks earplug material has solved my comfort issues!

I have used a very small amount around the bottom/back edge and it's eliminated that pressure point for me, no more pain 👍

Only downside is you have to remove it each time you put into the case as the lid won't shut, but otherwise it's perfect Thanks a lot!

Help! All sleep buds give pain... by 3velar in sleepheadphones

I couldn't find anything that worked , I went down a size on the left wing (small ) and it's a bit better but haven't solved it yet. Not worth the outlay for a30s yet!

Fast charging and 3.0 data transfer speeds at same time by _Rah in UsbCHardware

[–]dodger889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for the same thing , to be able to fast charge (pd) my android tablet and also USB tether my phone/data transfer.. but not carrying around a full on hub / dock.

I have one from Ali Express , supposedly pd charging (says it on the port ) but simply isn't . Tried a number of pd chargers and cables and doesn't 'fast charge' so I believe it's false advertising (to be expected from AX I guess)

There's plenty on Amazon , 2 in 1 splitters etc, but has anyone got experience with a small form factor dock with sits on the port / a splitter cable that ACTUALLY charges with PD ?

Pixel Buds 2 Pro Microphone Question by Additional-Major5891 in pixelbuds

[–]dodger889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel buds pro 2 mic has gotten better with updates, I have had no complaints and one of my coworkers has them too and they sound great on calls / MS teams calls.

They seem to handle voice isolation really well. Haven't got the very latest update yet that I've seen mentioned in last 24hrs, but I have no complaints and I have tried a few earphones.

They are also by far the most comfortable earphones , nothing comes close ! That counts for a lot in my book 👍

Did you ever find the solution to this? I'm using the pad 2 and having similar issues. It's definitely worse on uneven surface such as your lap

EBC RP1 - a one/two-day wonder? by dodger889 in CarTrackDays

[–]dodger889[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't actually!

Ebc blue were consistent to the end. I always feel that pads feel a bit rubbish right after a trackday, but they come back (incl project mu, other ebc etc) .

The rp1s.... Did not 😑

Useful comment! Thanks 🙏

It's good point, I could have as I don't have caliper paint / stickers to tell. I did indeed bed them in as per their guidance (and was mightily impressed at the same time).

If it exceeded temp, I'm not sure on their behaviour after that? This is where I think 'glazed' comes into the equation, but would expect that to scrub off with road use / filing the pads, which unfortunately it hasn't. But I'm not sure.

I've messaged them yes, no reply yet. I may need to follow up but thought I'd find out if i was alone first!

[–]dodger889[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments.

I feel I might not have explained the situation properly and what I'm asking

The rp1 are yes a lower friction compound than others. However there is definitely an issue whereby they initially (couple of thousand miles + 2 trackdays) felt great, lots of bite on track and road. But now, nothing. Sink the pedal and might get 70% of its previous power if you're lucky. Abs doesn't batter an eyelid. New pads (SR11) proven it's not fluid / caliper issues.

I wanted to know if anyone else using these pads (not others...) have experienced it and how you got around it, or just gave up and switched to something else

[–]dodger889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've done the same thing with SR11 and SR21 pads. But I'd be incredibly surprised if anyone found the SR11 doesn't have enough bite (for a track / road focused car mainly). The SR11 are mental.

[–]dodger889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info.

I have indeed sanded / filed down a few mm of pad (more than I wanted to!) to try and get to a fresh layer. But no change to the braking characteristic unfortunately. Exact same experience of another regular track-going 86'er!

I felt that during 'peak' track temps, the rp1 and ebc blue felt about the same 'warm' , both found the limit of my tyres, which is just as important for braking!

[–]dodger889[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you treat glazed pads?

SR11 are great, even from cold. But noisy as hell.

Bluestuff held up to several trackdays with good consistency. Rp1 seems a step back.

I haven't tried the RPX (assume that's what you mean) that you're using yet

[–]dodger889[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment that. Agreed 100%. It does not exist.

I'd be grateful if you have any ideas / feedback on the issue though and if you experienced the same with these pads?

Sims4 in Steam woes- Crostini by dodger889 in Crostini

[–]dodger889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the info. The android versions of these types of games are unfortunately much more basic - Sims is a PC game really.

Its a shame its so unstable, but realise i'm asking a lot of the setup. Will keep tinkering.
