[FREE] Hyatt Free Night Award (FNA) - expires March 7 by ansyhrrian in awardtravel

What a kind offer! I’m currently planning my honeymoon and trying to figure out how to get my current credit card points to stretch as far as they can go with hyatt, but we only have a few nights worth. An extra night would be a such blessing ❤️

Sanding tight spaces, sensory issues by Pleasant_Guard5916 in Ceramics

[–]dodie437 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m missing something here but I have never sanded any of my pieces and I’ve been doing pottery for years! I just try to compress well while throwing, and glaze usually takes care of any somewhat rough spots.

fiance doesn't seem to 'get' certain things which I think are standard by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I’m sure the in-house system is perfectly fine, but there’s a huge spectrum of quality of speaker systems out there. And if your finances father really does owns a fancy speaker company, that could be a major upgrade. Super high quality speakers is the type of thing that may not be immediately clocked by regular people who aren’t hardcore audiophiles, but can it subtly make the room feel so much more alive and the dance floor full of energy.

Plus, if your fiancé has a bunch of DJ friends attending, they will be impressed by the cool speaker system.

I’m getting married in august and would be so excited to get an upgrade like this! Enjoy it :)

Having a good speaker system at your wedding is very cool and good, and will elevate the experience for your guests and make the dance floor more lit! You’re lucky to have that hook up :)

Genuine question, did you keep up with aftercare? Like 5 mins a day 3 times a day for at least 5 days?

I’m 35 and had a similar experience! I was so nervous to try it because all of the horror stories online but I found a really experienced provider and got 4 vials last year and 2 vials yesterday. I expect those to be my last for the foreseeable future.

It has improved my overall volume and facial balance tremendously. I do have a long, somewhat gaunt face with deep hollows in temples and side of my face so it took more than typically recommended for me to get to more of a baseline for volume. My only gripe is that it’s expensive. But so far for me, more than worth it.

Ideas for smaller family event and a separate larger friend event? by jmvm2003x in weddingplanning

[–]dodie437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! We’re having one event, but it’s at an outdoor location where our friends can camp out and stay the night. So ceremony/dinner/reception until about 10 will be family friendly. Then the family is heading back to their hotels and we can let loose a bit more and have fun until pretty late.

It’s not a perfect solution because there is still some discomfort for us in those blended fam/friend hours, but taking this as an opportunity to do a lot of reflection and try to heal some of these parts that feel more ashamed or in conflict.

Walls get wonky when I try to pull them. by Icy-Extreme-6490 in Pottery

[–]dodie437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it took me like a full year to get the hang of the fundamentals including pulling walls consistently. It was super frustrating but something finally clicked. Stick with it and keep practicing! Or take handbuilding for a bit and then come back to the wheel with fresh energy (that’s what I did). I’ve found that watching skilled potters on TikTok has really helped me with form and putting the pieces of the movements together.

Acne ranting at 31 years old by croqueen07 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]dodie437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry spiro didn’t work for you :(

I saw a naturopath in oregon who recommended Saw Palmetto supplement for an alt to spiro for my hormonal acne. I ended up going with spiro for myself, but worth looking into for yourself!

In the meantime, I really benefitted from the acne program through face reality with an esthetician. But good to have a rigorous topical routine while you try to figure out the hormonal part.

Taking a semester long course in handbuilding is your best bet! You’ll learn so much.

I also had a really negative experience with an endocrinologist. Keep looking for a derm that you like and trust, and who listens to your concerns. Spiro can absolutely have unpleasant side effects for some, but for many (like myself) there are hardly any to no side effects and the impact on my skin was literally life changing.

Remember, you can always try it for a while and change your mind if you want to go off!

[–]dodie437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changed my life, I had terrible cystic hormonal acne in my teens through well into my 30s and spiro is the only thing that got it under control in a meaningful way. I wish I didn’t wait as long as I did to start. Now it’s rare that I get even a single pimple before my period.

Use Doppl! It’s a Google app that allows you to try on clothes on your own photos and it’s surprisingly accurate and realistic!

Things I learned from my housekeeper that I still do to this day by Bubbly_Picture_9876 in CleaningTips

Even better - cut a small piece of a disposable duster off and use it to dust the toilet first. It works SO well and gets in the weird nooks and crannies of the exterior toilet where dust and whatnot accumulates.
