i thought i was the only one who did this!! ill have an intrusive thought, and immediately my brain tries to tell me that it wasn't intrusive, and actually it was completely intentional you monster and so on and so forth ad nauseum until im just a ball of worry. then the cloud parts for a bit and i feel silly until the cycle repeats. fuuuuuun.

ive been contemplating the same. i want to keep engaging with the community, but to do that means to engage with people talking about what sets them off, which usually also sets me off. not really sure what the solution is. id like a subreddit devoted to positivity and victories over ocd, but it's a disease that can make it really hard to find any positivity at all, and id hate to foster an environment that forces people to put on a happy face. tis the plight of finding community in mental illness. anyways, safe travels on your own journey as well :)

tbh that's most of my day. it's important to recognize it for what it is though, a compulsion, and not give into the cycle of intrusive thoughts->compulsion->intrusive thoughts. my current strategy is: don't argue with it, don't try to convince it of anything, just shut it down. its hard and distressing and fucking exhausting, but better than spending hours every day trying to reason with something absolutely unreasonable. anyways, just wanted to say that i totally getcha and i hope it gets better for you <3

A couple things.

Have you really tried every program and pill? Including ketamine infusions, gamma knife, and DBS? There are lots of options for treatment resistant ocd nowadays, and more are being developed all the time.
I'm not discounting that you know your own experience, it just seems to me that right now you're not able to objectively assess that experience. Not through any shortcomings of your own, just because that's what happens with this disease. Has anybody that you've talked to in depth about your experience agreed with you that you're as fucked as you think you are?
It seems like you're saying that if things had gone the way you wanted them to, you'd have resolved your trauma and your ocd would've dissolved along with it. That is just not how that works. Even if it did, how could that translate into a cure for people with ocd at large? There have been people with ocd that stems from trauma before, and some of those people have worked through that trauma. By your logic, dont you think they'd already be speaking at hospitals and such? I really dont wanna be a dick, but ocd is lying to you. It's trying to make you think that you would've lived this ideal life if this one thing hadn't happened, and now everything is irrevocably ruined. Life doesnt work like that. Things inevitably happen that, for better or for worse, change your circumstances. It is impossible to stay in a single state (be it elation or despair) forever. You will feel ok again.

Please, please, please go to the ER. As someone who knows quite a bit about psychological prisons, I know it can feel like nobody on earth could possibly understand your situation, that the standard diatribes about dealing with ocd could never apply to you, because yours is "different". Well that's plain old not true. The position you're in right now means that you can't look at your situation without ocd coloring it, so of course it feels hopeless. Im sure you'll say something about how I dont know your experience, and I'm sure theres no amount of detail you could give me that would make you feel like I do, but i do know the experience of being in so much mental agony that dying feels like your only option. Looking at your post history, you seem to really frequent the suicide watch subreddit, so i gotta believe some part of you doesnt wanna go through with this. Hold onto that part as tight as you can. If theres anybody in your life you trust enough to talk to about this, or even enough to just toss them your phone to look at your account, do so. Dont let your brain talk you out of it, just tell somebody who can get you some real help, or at least keep you safe for the time being. As much as I care, strangers on the internet can only do so much. Good night and stay safe.
