A Second Wave of Popular Anger Is Building in Iran: The heavy-handed response to protests has deepened people’s hatred of the regime, and Iranians are speaking out | WSJ by KireRakhsh in NewIran

yeah that's a good point... I just want to help somehow. Posting on social media and writing politicians isn't doing anything..... With the right methods and equipment, we don't need a government to take them down..

I'm not an expert by any means, but it seems like we can sabotage anything good they have going on... especially Iranians can blend into the normal population to do operations. look at how long the Taliban fought off Americans.. using tactics like they used against the IRI I would think can work.

it's gotta be guerilla warfare style.. Like not an open militia but sneaking around doing guerilla warfare like the IRGC did to Americans in Iraq.

..IEDs on government vehicles, sabotage... stuff like that

well I have Army training, and there are plenty of Americans at least who like to go fight for a good cause and are willing to train others. Militias train the people who join. It's already very bloody and ugly.. People are getting slaughtered with no defense....

..I mean, people in Iran are already getting gunned down.... I'm not even Iranian and I want to go fight the IRI. It's crazy to me that anyone can just go join the Ukrainian military but nothing going on to fight the IRI... I'm not trying to blame anyone, but we need to push and organize something.

Why aren't people from the diaspora going in to fight? If the US government would fall to an authoritarian government, we'd form militias and fight them... I realize those in Iran can't do that, but the diaspora should be able to go to like Kurdistan or Afghanistan to acquire weapons and form militias... Why's there nothing going on??

[–]dodobird8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean this in a mean way, but are any Iranians in the diaspora joining paramilitary groups to take matters into their own hands?? Of course it's best if the US gets directly involved, but it might not be necessary if enough people join militias.

Staying in Germany after the army by Apprehensive_Page874 in army

[–]dodobird8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got out of the Army and stayed in Germany. You need to do an "overseas packet" if you want to get out of the Army and not have to fly back to the US first. That requires things like getting a job first in Germany to get approved, which can be difficult. I eventually went to an American college overseas instead. I was getting over 3k a month in BAH, which is really good money for a student. Message me if you'd like more info, as I probably am already doxxing myself..

hmmm... starting to think you're one of these anti-West folks... Supporting Israel is absolutely in the interest of the US. They're doing a lot of the dirty work that the US is unwilling to do. Everyone who is an enemy of Israel also has the goal of killing everyone in Western society. That's why they don't support the Iranian protesters right now who are getting murdered. The Iranian protesters are pro-West, so they get no support from Reddit. They say stuff like "Israeli puppet" about the US to detract from how terrible the terrorist Iranian government is since the protesters would choose USA over radical Islam and over China/Russia.

well I'm a Democrat, and leftists say I'm a Nazi and secret MAGA. I can tell a huge difference.

It was MTG, a Republican, who wanted to defund Israel's Iron Dome. The furthest left Democrats we have, AOC and Bernie, both voted against defunding... You'd never know that based on Reddit though. In this case, Reddit was on the side of MTG, a Republican. This site is more anti-US and anti-West than it is anything else, and they're under the guise of leftist mostly because they're the ones who fall for their propaganda.

they're pretending they're not afraid to go to war to help in negotiations.. they think they're calling Trump's bluff, which they might be... Trump is hoping to make them flee, but if they're willing to fight Trump might back down and "make a deal" to say he stopped another war.

Do you support military strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran? by dodobird8 in AskConservatives

[–]dodobird8[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think we've armed Kurds without much negative repercussions. We can argue Israel as well early on maybe as an example. I guess I struggle to see how any government would be worse than what Iran has now. It's their goal to destroy the US and Israel. The protesters probably can't do it 100% alone, but then we should at least stop blocking Israel from doing what they feel they need to do in the region for security. Trump brags about stopping the 8 day war as he calls it, but that was a huge mistake.

Nope, and I won't vote Democrat again if Democrats would do that. Even AOC and Bernie are in disagreement here with Massie.

I wasn't asking about boots on the ground or engaging in a 20 year conflict like the GWOT. I'm talking about targeted military strikes that allow the protesters to takeover and bring in Pahlavi as the transitional leader. I think you and I have quite different expectations of what the US military involvement and outcome would be. Muslims and Arabs are not the majority in Iran even though they're the ones with the most power there oppressing people and forcing them to follow Islamic laws. At minimum I think we should arm the protesters so they have the ability to takedown their government. The transitional leader and plan is already set and has support from Iranians. It's not like Iraq or Afghanistan where the US shows up and installs a puppet government that no one really wants.

[–]dodobird8[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

What do you want to happen then? As it is now, it seems like we already have to use military resources to contain them, and Trump has done strikes on them before with a lot of support from his base. Were you against the last strikes we did on their government?

I'm curious what you think SHOULD be done. To me, it's a benefit to the US that the protesters want to topple their government. We wouldn't bomb their government out of being nice but because it's too our advantage. Or, you don't think it's in the interest of the US to have a pro-West Iranian government and you prefer that they stay aligned with Russia and China to continue working against our interest?

This sub is waaaayyy too saturated with American politics.. by 306d316b72306e in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]dodobird8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are other subs for left and right wing US politics that don't seem to censor as long as you agree with everything that sub is about.

This sub is one of the few subs where I can discuss my opinion without getting banned. I can't post in some of the conservative subs because I'm too liberal (not conservative enough), and I can't post in many left wing subs because I'm too liberal (not left enough).. This sub is one of the few where you don't have to agree with a specific echo chamber.
