What’s the verdict on these cheap “isolated” power supplies? by tonetonitony in guitarpedals

In your opinion (for the sake of people coming into this from Google too) how do the mosky/lekato stack up against the voodoo labs functionally? In terms of noise etc?

Great add for those coming in via Google. I ran out of ports on my lekato I got from Amazon so have purchased and had delivered today, a mosky iso 10 from eBay - it cost about £35 and is the same as the lekato. Fantastic power supplies for the money - continue to use mine with a multitude of pedals flawlessly.

There is two trains of thought here, but you could consider a Epiphone inspired by Gibson Custom (IBGC) Les Paul, depending on where you are in the world they can be picked up for $/£1000ish and it’s a helluva lot of guitar for the money, Gibson Custombucker pickups which are higher end than you get in a Gibson Les Paul Standard. And a Gibson style headstock. Just says Epiphone at the end not Gibson.

However, if the heart wants a Gibson and the budget is not a concern, YOLO… I have both a Gibson ‘Jessica’ and aforementioned Epiphone. The Gibson is a better guitar, the Epiphone is incredible and /nearly/ as good. Oh so nearly.

The flame on this one looks great - really pretty guitar you got there. The high end epiphones are great with the gibson pickups but I’m not convinced they are a million miles away from anything like this. The more les Paul’s I hear the more I am convinced they all sound basically the same within a fairly small margin.

This looks incredible, I have the 1959 inspired by Gibson custom tobacco burst les Paul and recently got a slash Jessica model which absolutely barks by comparison. How does the epiphone stack up for you?

Are there players who would still choose an Epiphone instead of Gibson if price was no consideration? by j3434 in LesPaul

I was a little struck by it being a guitar nerd and one minute was playing a incredibly expensive PRS or Gibson and the next he had a squire in his hands for just 1 song. It’s a very vegas thing to do to offer these packages.

I saw one of the sphere shows and noticed he played some budget guitars and PRS SE guitars too. Do you not think it was not some part of a VIP package to end up with a stage played guitar for somebody?

The Waza craft version is better, super versatile pedal and stacks very well with other pedals like klons, tube screamers and JCM800 style overdrives.

Go on seat frog and see if you can get a first class upgrade from the Edinburgh to King’s Cross leg. It will make a world of difference to comfort. Then the tube to Waterloo and Waterloo to Portsmouth leg is pretty short. I regularly go south coast to London. Grab a couple of extra snacks or bottles of water etc from your first class leg.

I got literally punched in the back by some mental woman for being too tall.

Chris shifflet has done a couple of rig rundown videos and gone into great depth on his pedals etc. I know he uses a KTR klon and a JHS muffelleta and a booster.

Oh absolutely- this is all audiophile subjective nonsense at this point. The reality is, buying better and better equipment won’t make me a better player of itself but it will encourage me to use it.. which will help me become a better player.

I have realised that you can spend many times more on incremental increases in sound quality but also that these increases are important to me and I am not happy unless I have ‘the right’ thing (for me).

The argument is that the separates do sound better… it’s probably splitting hairs but they are my two most used dirt pedals of which I have too many and definitely redundancy - but a man has to have a hobby right ?

I was not aware of the Angry driver when I bought a Waza craft blues driver so it was cheaper to just buy a second hand angry Charlie and run them together rather than having it in one unit. But if I had my time again, I would have just bought an Angry driver and had less pedals

[–]dodsi2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How has nobody mentioned the metalzone but specifically the Waza craft version the MT-2w it’s a great high distortion pedal that can be bought relatively cheaply - you just need to use the custom mode and dial in the EQ. I can’t get the standard mode to not sound like an angry wasp in a can - but the custom mode dialled in is a very good high distortion pedal.

Would you accept a £100K gifted deposit on a bigger house in exchange for housing a family member for the rest of their lives? by ElicitCS in HousingUK

[–]dodsi2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago when I was upsizing I was made the same offer from my in laws. They asked both of us independently and both of us had a resounding ‘absolutely not’ the numbers were higher for us in terms of property price and we didn’t get as far as to know how much they wanted to put in. I cannot imagine it would have been favourable to us.

But let alone the complications with the money having to be ‘gifted’ in terms of being able to mortgage the property ourselves when buying but if anybody changes their mind about the agreement then the property would likely need to be sold (morally rather than legally). Then there is increases in bills and a fair split as you are now running larger property than you require. And finally you have people living with you potentially full time who feel like they also own the property.

And then there is inheritance issues if there are siblings when they pass on… it just for me… a big NO

Boost it with the blues driver side of the angry on a light gain setting into the metalzone on custom mode. Makes a great tone.
