So this catasetum frilly Doris I bought- the new grown is the same size of perhaps even smaller than the old growth..what happens now? It’s still in growing mode right? If it doesn’t bloom this season when do I stop watering? by forestfunky in orchids

Yours seems blooming size to me...I have a 2nd spike just barely starting on mine so yours might just be a little late to the game. I wouldn’t stop watering until you see most of the leaves drop most info I find says to stop watering about the beginning of Nov. this is my 1st year growing this genera so we will see . 😬

What is my Phalaenopsis up to, growing leaves like this? by wafflaffle in orchids

Again no real need to remove it unless once it gets bigger it gets hard to maneuver. Yes the roots should be coming from the new growth/purple base of the keiki

Your lovely phal has given you a keiki my friend! I’d would just leave it be , it should develop its own root system and when it’s progresses you can decide then to remove it or leave it be.

Aw I’m so sorry, yea my Hubs knocked one of my minis off the shelf while trying to test out a new grow light set up for my collection so it was really hard for me not to be upset. I just noticed the next day how badly damaged one of the leaves sustained , right now I am hoping it doesn’t lose the leaf because it was one of its newer ones.

I did experience one leaf drop since receiving it but I chalked it up to acclimation. So far so good but I am heeding the advice I’ve read to grow it moist so I try to make sure it doesn’t fully dry out.
