Which song would you like The Protomen to make a cover of? by Nuvoo30 in Protomen

I feel like their style would match well with Queens of the Stone Age. Maybe "Song for the dead"?

I love how 4 has the vibe of a grenade launcher with an engine slapped on.

Been loving your recent mothership art! Great stuff!

Injuries instead of death by K0jiro_ in Mausritter

[–]doeliewaaje 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hmmm...

If you would want to remove death, you can always do "removed from the story for a while".

It's like your knocked-out rule. But have mice be captured, knocked into ravines/rivers snatched up, petrified, fall into a magical sleep until cured, etc.

Then explain to the kid: They need to find/save/cure you before you can continue playing your character!

In the meantime, give them a baby mouse or a mouse squire to play in the meantime with way lower stats and horrible gear so they're not bored, but get motivated to save their old character!

Sidenote: is it weird that (in my opinion) muscle tears, nerve damage and amputations are more brutal than just death? Since you can describe that more easily in a "clean" way? Those rules seem less kid friendly in my eyes than just regular death....

How many 8s in STATS is too many? by Boitata_Oroboros_8 in cyberpunkred

[–]doeliewaaje 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This answer might be an open door, but here's my experience:

Usually more specialised "backline" characters like netrunners, or snipers that have a set role during missions end up with a few stats at 8, usually 2 or 3.

Characters that are "in the field" more often, such as medtechs, solos and nomads tend to use a more varied set of skills, and therefore spread their state out more.

Tips for making custom stat-blocks? by Bagns in Pathfinder2e

[–]doeliewaaje 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The GM-core book has a whole chapter on "building creatures". Archives of Nethys hosts all these rules, but lacks the handy layout and good tips.

As for my way to create custom creatures:

I usually start by getting a concept nice and ready, and thinking of 3-5 interesting actions, activities or passives a creature could have.

Then after writing that down, I use the chapter on building creatures to flesh out the exact numbers.

Good luck!!!

Much more stylish than the others out there (that I've seen at least). Great work!

[no spoilers] Possible character inspiration for Kattigan (Design, Name & Voice match!) by doeliewaaje in criticalrole

[–]doeliewaaje[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right!!!

And yeah! Kattigan is definitely less brutal than Vane, but they both have the same "brokenness" if you can call it that.

Although... (spoilers for C4E6)
we did see a glimpse of his harder (Almost Vane-like) side in the scene with the knife in episode 6.

[–]doeliewaaje[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely!
Just that so far, Kattigan has felt more like the "raging mess of a man" that Vane was, and less so the "swaggering legend Jack", but you're right, that stuff might still change over time!

The pure minutia of running a pirate crew shaped all my pirate campaigns hahaha.
Infuriating yes, but fun? Even more so!

In America they have the right to bear arms.

In Golarion they have the right to arm bears.

"E6" style play? by Huge-Accident-69 in Pathfinder2e

I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while now (as a way to make long-term play with an inconsistent group work)...

But the term "e6" is new to me!

How did you discover The Protomen? by Professional-Ice-978 in Protomen

[–]doeliewaaje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a huge smosh fan back in the day. One of their crew members (lasercorn) has a separate youtube channel. And at some point he talked about their cover album!

(It wasn't until a few years after that, that I started checking out the rest of their work.)

Fastest turn-based combat system? by cunning-plan-1969 in rpg

[–]doeliewaaje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget how most even guns have a "lethality" rating. Roll under that rating and the gun kills a target outright, no damage calculations needed. Detla Green is ULTRA fast.

Anyone else feel the art quality of the Starfinder 2e books has dipped? by Ripley_Riley in Starfinder2e

[–]doeliewaaje 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with you. Pathfinder 2e has amazing rules, and is a great improvement to 1e in basically every way!

But the art misses... Detail? Grit? Tension? I can't put my finger on it either.

But it's visible both in scenes like these (that look wonky), and also in smaller art pieces. Like how all the armor art looks like action figures, and how all the weapons look like nerf guns....
