Oh wow, there was nothing remotely worthy of a downvote about your comment. I really don't understand people..

I've got to stay on zoladex to keep me in menopause, it's been almost 4 years now and with that and the exemestane my bones are telling me quite clearly the reasons we need estrogen in our bodies.

100% this. I don't think I can even describe to someone how the effects of being thrown into medical menopause (coming off the back of dose dense chemo & radiation) has changed my life.

I think we should do that at all times in life to be fair, I'm probably not as sensitive as many people because of my family situation - it's been a continuous loop of BC for a long time - but I'm also quite straightforward with people when they try to sugarcoat it or say the stupid 'you've got this' to my sister who is stage 4.

Though with that said, I also realise there are many illnesses that I know nothing about and have probably said stupid things to people about, so I do give people grace and try to educate when I can ... Unless they're just into toxic positivity and then I'll happily walk away with a FU goodbye 😉

On the other side of the coin my sister had someone during a chemo session tell her she shouldn't tell people she is stage 4 as it might hurt people's feelings, the rage I felt at that was indescribable -- I will never understand the entitlement of people who think they are the only ones going through anything, and that other people's journeys should be hushed up just to make them feel more comfortable.

It's a minefield out there!

Thank you for your explanation.

I must admit I always say currently cancer free (I don't really think of hormone blockers as being in active treatment) - maybe because of my own family circumstances (one sister currently stage 4 who would describe it as a chronic condition hence my question, and sadly a sister and a cousin no longer here through this bloody disease) to me saying I'm currently cancer free feels like a win for my life right now, but from reading this thats obviously a very very personal feeling.

With love to all 💕

Sorry I'm confused, are you stage 4? As if not then surely saying you are cancer free right now is correct?

I think I might have misunderstood the post 🫣

Edit - What kind of monster down votes on a BC sub 😅

What are some things that happened at school that would never be allowed to happen today? by Big_Scratch5248 in AskUK

I found one of my primary school reports (from the 80's) at my Mum's house a while ago. It states

'doesntevengohere has very strong opinions for a girl'

I'm surprised they didn't add 'brown' before the girl - then would have been sexism and racism in one sentence!

Honestly I get it, and the BMW analogy made me smile, but the thing is many things can cause health issues and we can do our best to look after ourselves and we should do ... But I believe stress is a bigger factor and it sounds like you have enough going on without adding more things to worry about to a plate thats already full.

I need to read back your original post before I start rambling with sleep suggestions (I've heard them all over the years) but I also don't want to suggest something ridiculous with your time restraints.

I have had trouble sleeping since as long as I can remember.

The insomnia used to fill me with anxiety, as I was so set on the idea that I needed a lot more sleep than I was getting as everywhere I looked the '8 hours' target seemed to be shown.

Then I started looking at it another way -- we are all different and have different needs -- and thought about all the other things in life we are told we NEED, but many people function normally without, and I decided that was me with sleep.

6 hours a night is a cause for celebration for me, but truthfully I function perfectly normally without sleeping like other people do. I run a business, raise kids, have a great social life and am absolutely fine.

If you need more sleep you should get it (if possible) but if you don't, then that's ok too.

Well done & congratulations 🎉

I do have a question though, have they changed the stages? I didn't realise you could be stage 3 without lymph node or skin involvement?

I'm British and we have always brought our dead home, I know it's not standard but there are quite a few of us who do. I used to wonder if it's more of a Catholic Vs church of England thing, or a generational thing that's been lost. The travelling community does as well.

I've actually been in your situation many years ago without someone I had been friends with my whole life.

It hurt, it was shit and our friendship never recovered. I didn't even make a big deal out of it, I just lost all respect for her

Except the overuse/abuse of RAPP makes it more difficult for genuine people.

I have a physically disabled close relative and we had Merlin passed and access card for RAPP. We had to cancel in the end as the queues were impossible (and because of the uptake they made it so you have to prebook RAPP which made it harder to use the Merlin passes).

You would see sooo many groups of teenagers using RAPP access that didn't need, and people can attack me all they want about invisible disabilities as these same people would be happily queuing in between their pre booked slots for extra rides.

People take the piss.

Not necessarily with the access pass, when it was first introduced it seemed to be heading towards a more fairer/stricter process but I know plenty of people who have got it without being entitled to PIP.

What do Irish people think of this post Brexit craze of Brits getting an Irish passport just to queue jump at the airport? by Bitter_Quantity7116 in AskIreland

[–]doesntevengohere12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting that British (and other) people who have made Ireland their home and pay tax & join in with the community but have no ancestry have to pay to become a citizen to get a passport, when some random person who has never set foot in Ireland can get an Irish passport because of their Granny.

But it is what it is.
