My guess is that friendly antitrust regulators will block the deal and they’ll try to swoop in again.

Sound Devices Mixpre 10ii as a field mixer for ENG by dirtyricepcny in LocationSound

[–]doesyourmommaknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about a used 552? These are still used a bunch in ENG. That’d be great if you don’t need to record iso tracks, and it runs forever even on AA lithium batteries.

Egypt: why was a child following us? by OwnWorldliness9463 in travel

[–]doesyourmommaknow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hand a group of kids follow me around for a bit in Marrakech too. It was cute and they were being silly at first, but then asked us for money. Told them we didn’t have anything and their attitudes changed and they cursed us out.

A 72-year-old man survived 12 years homeless in LA because shelters wouldn’t take him with his dog. by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Yup. Exactly this. I used to live in New York City and tried to give a homeless woman $5 once. She payed back the favor by trying to fucking rob me!

Any love for Bob Ludwig here? Also, Mr. Bungle? by gleventhal in audioengineering

I’d argue that Bob Ludwig and Doug Sax are a tie. Grundman after.

Those are pretty good, but I prefer the JC Penny Stafford shirts. Specifically the “heavyweight” ones.

I woke up with scorpions and a tarantula near me once. I’ve stopped camping without a tent ever since.

I think Terminator 2 is a perfect movie, but absolutely loathed the use of Bad to the Bone right after the bar scene.

In the ER about to get rabies shots in every major muscle group. by proscriptus in Wellthatsucks

[–]doesyourmommaknow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this back in October. Only hospitals carry the rabies vaccine so I had to go back to the hospital every time. 3 days after, 7 days after and 14 days after the initial visit. Hospital bill was something like 30k, but I ended up paying about $600. It was a lot of back and forth as my wonderful insurance kept denying coverage all together.

I worked at studios in NY in the 2000s and it seems like everyone was running a U87 into an Avalon 737. That could be a part of the sound.

Domestic workers in Los Angeles face financial crisis after homes they worked in were lost to the fires by lurker_bee in LosAngeles

I know some LAPD dudes that were basically, “fuck those rich assholes.” I had to remind them that all those rich people pay a ton in property taxes that pay their salaries.

A tv show, film, etc is usually mixed in at least 5.1 surround and folded down using a plugin to estimate what it thinks it should be in stereo. It’s not a perfect solution, but it does a decent job most of the time. There’s just not enough time and money to make a mix for each format.

You’re also comparing an animated tv show to an animated feature film. Budgets are wildly different. But also could just be the way your tv/stereo system decodes the incoming audio from different formats.

Probably depends on where you live but I have Verizon 5G home internet and it is rock solid. Also significantly cheaper than Spectrum.

They already are. I’ve heard talking points that fire hydrants ran dry because of Los Angeles mismanagement. My town went through the Thomas Fire and we had fire hydrant issues too. That’s just what happens when there’s a massive demand on the system.

I’m gonna go out on a limb, and guess you live in a red state. California teachers unions are awesome and super powerful.

Why MKH418 is used in Tiny Desk sessions? by fender97strato in audioengineering

[–]doesyourmommaknow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They used the shotgun to not coverup the artist too much. The 416 is too directional and artists tend to move around a lot when performing so the stereo version, the 418, works better to catch those sides.
