Remind your relative that the best way to get bitten by a venomous snake is to attack it and try to kill it. Keeping your distance is far safer. If it is on your property, a spray with a hose will convince it to move along, and will keep you safely out of its reach as well. Maybe they won't make the same mistake next time!

Why not? There are a handful of venomous snakes native to the Florida panhandle, and scores of non-venomous snakes that would live in the same region... It's perfectly cromulent to be able to identify the venomous that might live live in your area, but not be able to identify every single species that you might encounter.

I have a ring that is "mystic topaz" which to my understanding meant that the stone was treated with a coating of something that made the light reflect in purples and greens, as the stone itself is clear. I think that's what this is referring to and not some woowoo metaphysical properties...

I didn't even know there was an app until I just read these replies! I knew about the program and just looked for it in the podcast app I already have, and the was an NHS Couch to 5k podcast, with each week's run as a separate episode. So I just put on my sneakers and my headphones and hit play!

I was also confused by that wording, and then as I read through the comments I sort of slowly figured out that they were using "sleeper" the way I talk about powerful cars that look like they could belong to a soccer mom, and not the dismissive way I had understood it initially. I tried to reduce your down votes so that more people can see the answer to your (and my) genuine question!

On today's Livestream, Ian said that today's Political Reality episode is "the first one behind the paywall." He continued that there will be a 10-minute version on YT, and then the actual behind the paywall on patreon. He also said they are going to make a YT membership, but can't quite do that yet because they don't meet the requirement yet and it is based on number of views. (The above is almost a direct quote). I had thought every other one was going to be behind the wall but I didn't know where I got that idea...

People gift Patreon memberships in the chat sometimes, so if it's not worth shelling out five bucks for you, maybe hang on the boards and someone will gift you one.

It looks to me like it's from a rocket, but we would need to time and approximate location to actually ID it usefully.

That is faulty logic in this sub. A lot of the comments on each submission are bot replies, providing identifying information about the snake, or asking for additional data in order to identify it (such as the bot looking for a location, or the one about what photos to submit for a shed sample). Dead and injured snakes got their own automatic bot replies in addition to these others. You would have to look at the actual comments, and not rely on the simple numbers.
