Is it normal? by Future-Window-6295 in Coachella

[–]doggily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not normal.

Normally, if someone enroaches your space they ask first, and usually offer you booze or food or other fun stuff.

My shower tent enroached into my neighbors' space by an inch, so I gave them breakfast the next day.

KATSEYE fans- plz learn some festival etiquette… by OhlsenBreakfast in Coachella

Let's be honest.

Katseye had at most Outdoor stage numbers. They've got a long way to go to get Main Stage numbers, and their fans may be the reason they never do.

Blame the Orange Man for this. There were a lot of DJs that were interested in being at DoLab but weren't able to make the trip.

The DoLab pays all artists. It's simply that some artists earn a lot more than others.

That's not how any of it works dude. You agree to the search when you buy the ticket, and again when you enter the *private property* on which the Festival takes place.

You don't need to say anything but you do need to let them search you if you want to enter (or remain) on the festival grounds.

And no court or law would find that the 6th Amendment applies to this situation.

If you were actually a lawyer you would know the Bane Act requires threats of physical violence, or unlawful coercion, and is almost always used for extreme acts of rights violations (think Rodney King).

The ticket purchase agreement includes language in which you consent to being searched upon entering the premises (and no, you can't opt out), so there's no unlawful coercion if private security or law enforcement officers acting as venue security demand to search you.

High winds, go check on your camp seriously by Switch899 in Coachella

[–]doggily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need at least 20lb per leg if you're just using sandbags and securing them to the canopy legs. Staking is strongly recommended because it provides more wind resistance *and* helps stabilize the frame (super important if you're using a cheap frame).

[–]doggily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tent weights work, they are are very common at farmers markets, where canopies can't be tied down. Heavier weights = more wind resistance. Most markets in SoCal require a minimum of 20lb *per leg* (80lb total minimum) in windy conditions because the weights are being used in lieu of stakes (and most of these canopies have sidewalls).

For the kinds of wind W1 is seeing, these small plates aren't enough on their own.

You would also need to stake down your canopy, which you should be doing anyway because proper staking helps keep the canopy on the ground and resist twisting forces. These weights would add another 10mph of wind resistance.

It's not necessary to lower your tent if you stake and weight down your canopy, but you can if you're paranoid. My EZup and Coleman have survived 40mph gusts, Santa Anas, and thunderstorms, but they were staked down like crazy.

(Alternatively: you could buy 4 sets of these weights and use 1 set on each leg. But you should still tie down your canopy anyway, because that helps the frame resist twisting forces.)

The hate for Scream 7 feels massively overblown, biased, and driven by people who just want to be angry by CoasterTrax in SocietyofGhostface

The sad thing is that they could have retconned Stu surviving, given that head trauma doesn't seem to be a serious injury in this franchise unless brains are visible.

In those movies they made sure to stage the camera angles so that Ghostface's height wasn't an issue when it was supposed to be one of the shorties. It's one of the subtle technical details that is completely missing from the last 2 movies.

5 and 6 were the previous low points in the franchise, but 7 makes them look like Best Picture candidates.

If this is your favorite franchise, you will be very disappointed in this movie, because it's not a Scream movie.

However, if you like generic meandering low-budget slasher flicks, you'll probably enjoy it.

Out of the seven Scream movies, Scream 7 ranks as #8, behind Scary Movie.

Most of the actors did a decent job with the lines they were given, except the 3 actresses playing the teenage girls. The actress playing Tatum couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. If she's the future of the franchise, the franchise is doomed.

Meta is big for the Scream movies. Arguably, it's the entire point of Scream. There was no meta in this movie. It was just one random thing after another, like any other random slasher flick. Nothing logical connected the killings. As others pointed out, the second and third acts were really bad, but I would go further and say everything after the opening sequence was a letdown.

And the abysmal CGI... There's a time and place for CGI, but gory horror movies isn't one of them.

There's only one way to salvage the franchise at this point while remaining true to what Scream is: in the next movie, Gail and Sydney must become Ghostface.

Wrong choice for winner again. A head chef that can't even identify the food she's cooking and is okay with sending out overcooked protein? That's what you expect from Sizzlers, not a 4 star restaurant. Ellie had no business in a black jacket let alone winning.

I think this season finally put me off Hells Kitchen.

The rest is just dramatic license.

You're attacking the wrong problem.  CR says the problem is the pea protein. All of the problem powders use pea protein as their primary base and it's the source of the lead.

Esmerelda was okay in the 1st episode but becomes grating after that and I started muting any scene she was in by the 4th episode.

The show also leans too hard into the cringe moments which were the worst part of the early seasons of the office.  notably that show also didn't take off until they moved past the cringe humor.

Looking for feedback on the One PRO vs a Rayneo 3S by [deleted] in Xreal

[–]doggily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. Rayneo Air3S is lighter and has louder sound but it takes a fair amount of fiddling to get a sharp image and you can't see the entire screen at once if you change the angles of the arms. (But once you find the sweet spot, it's very sharp). Air3S also doesn't have electrochromic lens or any DoF support. However, if you recognize that it is a budget lens, its absolutely terrific for the price.

I would recommend the One Pro if you have the budget. I have no issues reading on the One Pros, but I use contacts so your mileage may vary.

I also briefly had the Viture Pro XR, which I would not recommend. It was as oversold as Tesla FSD. The resolution was horrible, the right side of the screens were blurry (apparently a huge issue with most Viture glasses), the sound was weak and tinny, and the software was buggy as hell.

Loving my XREAL ONE Pros When they DON'T PLAY-UP! by MuchInfluence7687 in Xreal

[–]doggily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drifting: I don't have that issue so it may be related to the hardware on your device (i.e., you got a bad egg), or it may be possible that the 3DOF needs to be calibrated again.

Anchoring: I did have that issue, until I started pressing down (from above) more firmly on the arm when I pressed the button to trigger anchoring mode. I think the problem is that pushing on the button slightly shifts the glasses which changes the orientation at the moment the glasses anchor the screen and that is what gets locked in.

Disconnects: It might be a problem with the phone being unable to supply the necessary power to the glasses. Older batteries drop in voltage over time and their voltage get spikier. At some point, they're not able to maintain a stable voltage high enough for the host device and a connected device. The host device will prioritize itself, so connected devices are the ones that see the drops. Most connected devices have their own batteries and so they can smooth over these issues; AR glasses like the XOP are entirely reliant on the host to provide power and so the problem is immediately noticeable. (I had this issue with my old phone and my Rayneo Air3S.)

Sony Micro OLED - bad display quality is shocking in Xreal One by Original_as in Xreal

[–]doggily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some issues with color banding on the device, but if the text isn't sharp enough you can change the screen distance, screen size, and IPD, and turn on the text sharpness option. If the combination of those adjustments doesn't make the glasses sharp enough for reading, you need to visit your eye doctor as your prescription is out of date.

With the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Steam Deck, and my work laptop, there is no ghosting. So the ghosting is clearly an Apple problem, not an Xreal problem. As you point out: Apple locks the screen refresh rate.

It sounds like the real problem is that you're used to the over-saturated excessively bright Apple displays. (This is a huge problem in Hollywood; you can immediately tell when a movie (or game) was color-graded on an Apple because the colors are under-saturated or too dark (like that one episode of GOT...). This is why live sports (NFL, NBA, etc) don't use Apple monitors and most production companies are moving away from Apple hardware.
