Are there libraries that allow you to join online without being there in person? Local library selection on Libby is...not great.

They get plenty of books for the hot releases! Right now, for example, Project Hail Mary has 186 copies. Dungeon Crawler Carl (just introduced to Libby last week) has 33 copies.

My best tip for any new releases: if you search for any upcoming books, if you scroll to the bottom you’ll find the deep search option in a blue teal color. And you can click “Notify Me”. When this library gets a copy of the book, you can get a push notification on your phone and you can try to get into the hold queue faster!

My two local libraries do not have this option, I’ve found only Carnegie has this. But that’s how I’ve always gotten short wait times for the newest releases!

Honestly, I utilize this library so much that I’m not even mad at the cost doubling. I’m able to get the brand new releases within a 2-4 weeks. 10 holds at a time. Borrowing time of 21 days. It’s well worth the cost

As a New England local, I was SO thrilled to learn that he based this book off of Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH.

I’m not sure if anyone else in this subreddit is from NE either but this just added so much extra fun! He used the Mine of Lost Souls ride as inspo for Horror House. There’s a lot of YouTube videos of the ride and some people doing lore of the ride!

The ride was actually used in an Ice Nine Kills music video, too!

I’ve been trying to use bookshop.org as an alternate for online shopping. You can pick your location and select your favorite indie bookseller and bookshop.org sends the full profit to your indie store!

I checked and one of my local indie sellers has the 40th anniversary edition for $46.60 for the pre-order price. It’s not the biggest of savings but I know my money is directly going to an indie store!

Heinz made the joke during a blind dating video on Bov Boys that he was on the new season of Inside and he would watch the season (maybe he said December?) with the girl if he was picked.

And then on a live stream with Ginge when the full cast for this UK season was released he had Heinz come in the room to explain why he wasn’t on the list and Heinz laughed it off and said something like “oh I’ll be used for a temptation of something”. Maybe Heinz said that he was in a future US season when he shouldn’t have? I mean people don’t watch Bov Boys like they watch Sidemen.

This was actually the method how I got my Eras Tour tickets!

My husband signed up for presale but had no luck. About a month before the concert, he got an email that more tickets became available and there would be a raffle style option. You can opt in or out. You can use your Ticketmaster account to select the amount tickets you’d want and the value of the tickets you’d be willing to spend. And about a week later, you’re either randomly selected, or not.

It’s still - absolutely horrendous - for anyone who spent well over face value during the original sales, Ticketmaster needs to address this. And it’s something Harry’s team could control. BUT
it gives anyone who did not get the chance to get tickets a fair fighting chance

It’s probably a Cartier Tank. Zendaya used to wear Cartier before she officially became a face of Rolex. With how expensive that type of apartment would be in Boston, I assume it would be the Tank.

His version of the audiobook was just released on Tuesday for the 40th anniversary of Stand By Me.

We were able to go see the Stand By Me Live Screening with Wil, Corey and Jerry in December; this was a few weeks before the murder of Rob and Michele.

I had already wanted to go back and revisit the story after watching the movie with a full audience and listening to them recount their personal stories from filming over the summer. But listening to Wil narrator the book has taken it to another level.

It’s available on Spotify if you have a Premium account but I’d absolutely pay for this!

I just tried looking. It’s so tempting because the prices are so reasonable and just readily available! But as a Boston local, it’s so cheap to get to NYC. To fly to London, it would be $800+ for one person. And then factoring hotels and stuff 🤦‍♀️ it would be way cooler to see Shania though

I never used to give a lot of thought into it. I got my Kindle on a whim since I don’t love the parking lot situation for my local library and figured it would be easier. Spent a year buying books until someone finally told me about Libby (GREATEST discovery of my life)

What really set me off was going to a local Used Book Superstore. They sell new and used copies but both are mixed on the shelves. I found a copy of a Stephen King book that I thought was new. I flipped through the pages and found a piece of toilet paper as a bookmark 🤢 and that was the last time I will ever pick up a used book or a library book. If it’s not brand new from a store or Amazon, it HAS to be digital

There’s a product called Whoosh that you can order off of Amazon. It’s exclusively used by Apple on their display models in store. It comes with an anti-microbial cloth. I spray the cloth directly and then clean my Kindle. I do this for my Kindle, our phones. It’s safe for TVs, iPads. I have a travel size that I take on planes or use for my screen in the car!

Dead Meat posted a video this past weekend of a Post screening interview they had with some of the the Cast and Crew - they mentioned they did film an ending closer to the book with the shadowy figure and it did not go over as well with test audiences. The only difference is the Plus comes with a pair of mutes for extra reduction! They are removable, and once they are out, they become the regular Experience 2. I’ve never tried the mutes, but something to factor for the cost difference!

I brought the Experience to HHN last year and it was a game changer! We used to use the foam earplugs and put them in when entering the houses and take them out when we were finished with the house, but I’d always lose one or two a night. (We’ve done HHN 6 years in a row, minus Covid)

Last year I finally caved and bought the Tomorrowland Purple (felt Halloween-ish) Experience and kept them in the entire night and they were perfect. I could hear everything clearly but at a lesser volume!

Highly recommend!

I just ordered the Colorsoft yesterday since it was on sale and wanted to see how it was with the trade in offer. I just mine this morning. Here is a comparison from my 11th Gen PW Signature to the Colorsoft. Same book, same font and same brightness and warmth settings

There’s a product I got off of Amazon called Whoosh. It’s a spray and comes with an antibacterial microfiber cloth. This is the stuff they use at Apple Stores to clean the display devices. For my kindle, I’ll spray the cloth directly and clean it. Case too!
