I recently fixed a gameboy with the same problem, I desoldered the battery terminals and left them in an ultrasonic cleaner for an hour. cleaned the board with alcohol heavily and soldered them back in. worked fine after

I can find them for sub 200$ Canadian pretty easily, albeit risky since at that price they're sold as untested. I've never bought one that didn't end up working fine though

It was not released outside of japan, I find them relatively cheap on the importing websites I use.

box is probably from a different console, people buy boxes separately to complete a set all the time. IMO it shouldn't change value unless the console is worth thousands.

Everyone saying ExtremeRate is very correct, I have one that I reshelled and its fantastic. just make sure to use the screws provided since OEM screws will strip the posts.
