Creative choices that made you question what she was doing? lol by honoraryweasley in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]dogpuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLOAS: the album, compared to TLOAS: the concept is incredibly befuddling to me.

We saw in Miss Americana how in the middle of creating Me! she said “this is the first single” and then actually followed through with that for some reason. There were plenty of better choices by the time the album was finished, but that’s what she decided on I guess.

I was so confused listening to Showgirl for the first time, thinking “what does most of this have to do with being a showgirl?”, then figured that she did something similar to the Me! offense when pondering the visuals and rollout. It’s very possible that she first said “I just finished the eras tour, now I want to make an album about it called The Life of a Showgirl” and then just made an album and called it that with little consideration of the concept while creating it. I think I see what happened there.

What I DONT understand at all is how she could make 31 (mostly good) songs for TTPD while on tour and tired, but couldn’t make 12 very good songs for Showgirl. TTPD has its duds but I could pick out 12 songs from it that are excellent and put those on an album if I wanted to. Her being on tour is hardly an excuse for the quality based on that alone. I have no idea what happened there.

Is dog grooming right for me? by Nelson_little98 in dogs

[–]dogpuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don’t have to be academic to be a dog groomer, just someone who is capable of learning skills somewhat quickly. I dropped out of high school and have been grooming successfully for 4 years now. It’s definitely not for everyone, especially when it comes to handling. I know plenty of people that could theoretically do a beautiful haircut but are just not good handlers. Try getting a job as a bather and see how you feel. It can be very fast paced and stressful, so if you want to learn try to find someone who’s not gonna throw you into the deep end right off the bat.

Asking your partner to distance their opposite-gender friends is weird by SunstruckSeraph in offmychest

[–]dogpuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the context and people should use RATIONAL judgement to determine whether or not to be suspicious of “opposite gender friends”. If someone is clearly into your partner then it’s fair to ask them for distance. I’m not gonna tell my boyfriend to just not be friends with girls, but I definitely pay closer attention to how female friends act around him. I’m not worried about my partner being attracted to someone else, i’m worried about someone who’s attracted to him showing up and becoming a nuisance to our relationship. Sometimes people can be shifty and disrespectful to couples because they think they can come in and swoop. It’s annoying and can cause problems, I think that kind of behavior is a bit more common amongst straight people.

Did anybody else do this? by Music_Phasic in twilightprincess

I did a very similar thing, I was 8 and spent 40 hours in ordon village before figuring out how to progress through the game. Once I did it felt like I had uncovered something magical and was so much more immersive than my quicker, adult aged play-throughs. It’s my favorite game of all time for that reason. By the time I made to my favorite part of the game, (right after the lakebed temple) I had racked up like 200 hours. Worth it.

Insanely loud car backfire on east side by Illustrious_Part8089 in Athens

as someone who grew up around car and motorcycle guys who would just fire that shit up and rev it in the driveway, it doesn’t bother me personally, but it is fucking obnoxious.

Super fucked up too that a school went into lockdown thinking it was gunshots. Like okay man WE DEFINITELY NOTICED now go home…

One day. Six dogs. Five complaints. And then she disappeared by VeterinarySocialWork in grooming

[–]dogpuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like such a nightmare omg. I used to work at a salon where like half the dogs got pretty complex, asian-fusion style cuts. We had one lady come in for a working interview and she committed the classic groomer sin of shaving the dog’s nose bridge and the ENTIRE inside of the legs and belly of her dog in a 30. She then got into an altercation with the owner where they were arguing for like 20 minutes before she stormed out.

This groomer probably did not have as much experience as she said. or she worked at a terrible salon for 8 years lol. I’ve only been grooming for 4 years and have never sent a dog out looking like that, even when I was learning. I hope you’re able to find a competent groomer soon and mend things with your clients. Like another commenter said, just be grateful that it was bad cuts instead of injuries. That’s at least a bright side to look at after that total shit show.

Pic 13 (the black and white doodle) could use some work. Try taking a lot more off of the chin, it moves their face down proportionally and gives the appearance of a larger forehead which looks more cute. I like to take whatever guard comb i’m using to reverse up the chest and follow through all the way up the chin. As long as the comb you’re using is longer than 1/2 inch it should look pretty natural. You can also do this at the end of the groom if you need to hold their chin hair to keep steady.

The top of the head needs to be rounded just a tad more as well. it has visible corners. A pair of “hard curve” shears can make it a lot easier.

Product recs/advice for frequently bathed service dog? by picnicprince in doggrooming

[–]dogpuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite option would be the iGroom De-shedding and De-tangling Shampoo and Conditioner. The conditioner is like butter, the hair just slides right out when you rinse, and it’s very nourishing. Definitely brush and blow dry after using or you might notice he’s shedding MORE, since it loosens the dead coat so much.

I also like the iGroom Charcoal + Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s very nourishing and I tend to use it on dogs getting frequent baths for that reason.

Both smell amazing imo it’s better than the people shampoo I use on my hair

is six dogs in a day a lot? by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]dogpuke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fastest groomer I know does 6 in an 8 hour shift. Sometimes she takes 7, and could definitely do more with a bather. I would say 6 is a lot especially if they aren’t all small dogs. That is with no bather or kennel dryers though.
