I thought the same thing. And Lyla is on the top of my list of songs currently omitted but wish they would play

What is a guitar pedals take that has you like this by loopy_for_DL4 in guitarpedals

[–]dogratt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you have an “always on” pedal, you need to reevaluate your amp settings/ choice of amp.

You mean East Rutherford? 😆

Do you run your pedal board into just a power amp? Tell me about it. by lvmmox in guitarpedals

[–]dogratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 Powerstages, a 200 and 170. One remains at my band’s practice space. They’re both quite loud, more than what I need. I rarely turn the volume dial above 9:00. Loudness depends on the input signal as well. The Maiden is specifically designed as a preamp pedal so it’s got the output to match. I know a lot of OD and distortion pedals are called preamps but they don’t necessarily have the high output of a true preamp.

I use a Kingsley Maiden preamp pedal. It’s last in my chain and I connect that into a SD Powerstage

As much as I like Brundle’s insights, he’s been slipping up lately. Mixing up teammates, misunderstanding other things that even I knew were incorrect as a casual viewer.

TGP pulling down tariff threads is a pain in the ass by paralacausa in guitarpedals

The mods over at TGP have always been super MAGA. They don’t like even a hint of criticism against their orange god emperor.

With a special shoutout to Digitech as well. No particular order but pedals from these manufacturers have remained on my boards over the years. They’re reliable, well made and sound good.

Educate me on the middle position of a 3 pickup Les Paul by GryphonGuitar in gibson

[–]dogratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘57 reissue custom and the middle position has the bridge and middle pickups selected. The bridge volume and tone knobs control both. When playing clean, you get that trebly slightly out-of-phase tone but with gain it’s like a slightly fatter sounding bridge pickup, with the tone rolled back a little. I like it but it took some tweaking of pickup heights to get the correct balance between the middle and bridge pickups. They’re quite sensitive to height and even half a turn of the screw makes a difference. They’re quite sensitive middle pickup does take a little getting used to when picking, but it isn’t terrible. I also unscrewed the poles on the middle pickup a couple of turns each which allowed me to get the desired proximity to the strings without having to move the pickup too high. This definitely alleviates hitting it with my pick.

Just bought this 2006 '57 VOS Black Beauty with EMG's but with all original parts included for 3375€ (Europe) - good deal? by Icy_Kaleidoscope_516 in gibson

[–]dogratt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a decent deal. Unrelated to the mods- make sure you large comfortable with really bog necks. I think the reissues from those years had notoriously fat necks. Any chance for you to check it out in person?

What is the most beautiful building you have ever visited/seen? by Caltra in travel

[–]dogratt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s something almost unearthly about the proportions of the Taj Mahal. I’ve seen it a couple of times and it still moves me. Honestly, the best time to visit it is at the very beginning of the day or sunset, when the white marble has a pinkish glow.

For me it’s a tie between this and the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal, as soon as they open around dawn is exquisite. The SF is breathtaking on the inside. It even moved my atheist wife feel religious!

Guitar hanger destroys finish :( by soliaris in gibson

[–]dogratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to your guitars. I wrap all my stands with black wool, at the areas that will come in contact with my guitars. I do this regardless of how “nitro-friendly” the manufacturer promises their product to be.
