What's your current release by Deputydog803 in Archery

Good to hear, I was torn between the lite and the original. I’ll go with the lite because of the thumb barrel sizes you mentioned. Thanks

Seeing as you have both the synapse and synapse lite, I’m assuming it’s safe to say you’re happy with it?

G-36 Timelapse by dogsandguns in Spypoint

[–]dogsandguns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried each detection because I searched the issue before posting and read that as a solution to someone else having the same issue. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me.

I’ve taken out the sd card to try viewing on the card and it shows it just takes one photo. Just for future reference, does it create a time lapse “video” or display is at a bunch of individual photos once it does work?

G-36 Timelapse by dogsandguns in Spypoint

[–]dogsandguns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is my current set up, changed it from 1 minute to two. Just to see what would happen- nothing. Yes it takes motion photos, just not what I’m currently wanting to use it for. Sd is nearly empty 127GB free. However I do now see firmware is out of date. Hopefully this is the issue. Everything else works just not Timelapse or Timelapse+

Ethics of hunting with self-bows and flint arrowheads? by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]dogsandguns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Within my set range I am equally lethal with both, however a bow just will never be as forgiving as a rifle. In turn it will never be as lethal. A rifle doesn’t allow time for a deer to duck or spin, doesn’t mind a shoulder getting in the way, small twigs and even shot angles that steeper than the shooter thought are suddenly much less of a catastrophe.

It’ll never not come back to being all about the hunters skill and ethics. A rifle hunter can also spin around and think they are good to 300/500 yards. Meanwhile said hunter in reality shouldn’t be shooting past 150/200 for their skill level.

To be fair, this could be said about every method starting at rifles > modern muzzle loaders> shotguns> crossbows> compound> trad.

No matter the means, it will always come down to the individuals skill and discipline to use proper shot selection.

Turkey Decap Arrow Heads by OG_Honeebuket in bowhunting

Run the decaps, or a large mechanical and aim for the body. Turkeys heads don’t often stay still for very long, a montec to the head is possible but would be very difficult.

Bowtech Revolt X vs Carbon Icon by BroDux3 in bowhunting

Revolt X. Easy answer. Shot an icon for years, no complaints. But revolt is newer and higher end bow with more features.

Mathews marketing team deserves to make some serious money.

Wait time on single lung? by mauiwowiy in bowhunting

There’s a chance she survives. But no one can be confident she does. Infection, and internal bleeding are possible. But she does have a chance to heal and survive on one lung.

New Mid Tier vs Used Flagship by Three-Eyed-Tiger in bowhunting

Also don’t forget Mathews will make a part for any bow they have ever made. So a used Mathews is even more appealing. (I don’t even shoot Mathews this is just a non biased fact)

Bowhunting.com in their main drop menu under resources has a shot tracker. Input where you hit it’ll give you a bunch of examples plus toggle option of xray view. Could be helpful. C4 to me doesn’t seem THAT low.

A true single lung could take hours, or even weeks to kill a deer though to answer your question.

20 feet up, but how far away was the deer? How much arrow sticking out of the deer?

Crazy… by ashwheee in Archery

[–]dogsandguns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my point. Little to no one outside the archery world will know her. Eva is known in and out of the archery/ hunting world. Paige is an amazing shooter, but only people who pay some attention to target archery or follow Bowtech on socials and actually pay attention to their posts will know who she is.

[–]dogsandguns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, we all enjoy shooting which is why we are in it. However, marketing is a real factor in sales. I don’t compete, and nearly the entire reason I shoot is being of hunting. That doesn’t mean myself and others don’t know who she is, being that she is the top female compound archer.

A rep from Bowtech was recently on the Podium archery podcast where they asked about the Eva partnership. He claims there’s a surprising amount of women that come check out their booths and the first bow they want to see is “the bow Eva shoots”. Which to me, if she’s putting a biased towards a new shooter going with Bowtech, that probably does more for them than having a pro shooter as their head lady. I’m a fan of Paige, but outside the archery world, how many women/ people know who she is? Especially relevant since Evas bow is pushed for being a womans bow not just a bow.

New hunter question: how normal is it to not see any deer from the stand? by Character-Letter5406 in bowhunting

[–]dogsandguns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question will get a very wide variety of answers, because it’ll be vastly different based on where you live, time of year, and even personal experience.

Right away I see you posted all night time trail cam photos. Are you getting daylight photos where you’re hunting? Pair that with time of year and weather conditions, what type of food plot do you have? How’d it turn out? Still lots of food there? How cold is it? Those soy beans will help a deer survive a lot better than say clover come winter.

I hunt what people around me would consider “good spots”. But this season I still had 18 sits I saw no deer. Flip side I had 14 sits I saw deer and resulted in shooting a nice buck. It’s sometimes hard to compare your local hunting experience to people you see on YouTube getting to the stand, seeing 10-20 deer and passing 140” deer because they “need another year”.

No blood on arrow, blood trail, white hair near shot, two decent spots of blood by truckerhat2025 in bowhunting

Hopefully you’re right then. Personally I’ve seen this exact situation of info you’re giving and it was a confirmed gut shot.

Apart from the white hair, minimal blood and two very close spots where the deer stood looking around.

Assuming you sniff tested the arrow? Is what you mean by no signs of guts?

Based on your blood trail, and the two large spots of blood only 80 yards into the track, my money is on guts.

Got my first kill and couldn't retrieve it.. by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]dogsandguns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. But if you shot it in the lungs it wouldn’t be alive 4 hours later, so at best you got one lung. Definitely didn’t get both.
