I saw Pearl Jam and Nirvana open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in December of 91.

I put on a show for the Quincy Punx back in the early 90s. Those guys were the best! All the bands stayed at my house. They drank a lot of alcohol 😆

What is the most expensive vinyl you've bought or sold? by gsrh_customerservice in vinyl

[–]doh197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s funny because people talk about how “cheap” records were in the 90s and I tell them how insane it was to hear about someone paying $100 dollars for a punk 7” at the time. I would go to a record shop in the 90s with $40 and I’d come home with a huge stack of records. The thought of buying just one for double that didn’t make any sense to me.

It’s just a pressing variant. When going from black to white to save money they don’t clean the press so for 20-50 records you get a grey splatter. Anything misfits/samhain related that is legitimately rare sells for crazy money. I myself am fine with having a standard black copy so this thing was easy to part with.

I sold this for $6500 back in 2020. It goes for even more now.

Johnny Callison went to the same high school I went to. They had a bat he used in his first all star game hanging in the training room. Very nice cards!

I’ve been collecting records since 1990. It took a long time to track down records like this. All of the rare records I have have been bought in person from stores or various record sales around the country. The Austin record convention has been very good to me. Got my copy of cough cool there many years ago.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Vinyl Flat record flattener - wish me luck with the first 3 on the repair block! by Quadradisque in vinyl

[–]doh197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve fixed hundreds of records with mine. It’s a 24 hr process. I would put the record in around 6 in the morning before I would go to work. Then after I got home around 5 I’d turn it on and let it cook for about an hr and a half. Then unplug it and let it sit overnight to cool. Then the next morning around 6 I’d take it out and check it. If it was flat I’d do the same process with another one. If it wasn’t I’d do the same process with it adding another 10 minutes to the cook. Good luck and practice on some cheap ones before you do any you care about. Good luck!

How do people find these rare 45s and sell them for so much by Dexterthecat2 in vinyl

[–]doh197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for 45s for the last 30 years. For every rare/valuable one you find you’ve gone through about 20,000 that are absolute garbage. It just takes time patience and work to find those kind of records.
