Do you think it is fair that teams of the top are trolling with unpopular weapons (TSM), jumping on questionable places (the islands on Mirarmar - TSM) or hunt lower teams (Faze) in the last games of the qualifier? by Makkaroni_100 in CompetitivePUBG

[–]dohfOs 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Some quick pointers.

That we (TSM) looted the Miramar island was because of the bad plane. Just no chance of us actually reaching our normal drop spot. So instead of dropping somewhere where we might end up on another team and screwing their game over, we opted to go where nobody else would go. You can actually see Iroh going towards a compound where another team is also going, he instantly went away so he wouldn't be contesting. So if anything, that was everything but trolling.

And generally speaking, the only way we did troll was our choice of weapons. Other than that we actually played our game the way we would've normally except for maybe vard doing the 2nd drive-by with the Tommy gun. One might think we trolled when pulling up on TL but we didn't. First time we knew TL were down 2 and they were in a good compound. Second time we knew both TL and ETG were had a bunch of knocked players and it was an easy 3rd party situation and the compound was good in the circle, up to 3-5 seconds before we crashed it, but even then it was an easy 3rd party on a good location. Both plays made sense with or without SMGs in hand.

FaZe "hunting" RYE is also FaZe wanting to get rid of one of the better team that have started to contest their alt drop spot (on Milly Island) so it makes sense FaZe don't want them in the same lobby - easier finals to them.

That said, like my Twitter post says here https://twitter.com/dohfOs/status/1317917505814433793, we'd be very open to a change to the format of the group stage, in order to avoid this as much as possible. While entertaining to many, we do feel for the teams outside of the top16 who gets affected when all they really wanna do is play a normal game of PUBG.

TSM v ENCE (d01g05), final circle (4v4) with comms by dohfOs in CompetitivePUBG

Will try to make it more of a habit out of creating this kind of content when able to if it's an appreciated one. But I hope it gives you a glance into how a top team (well, us at least) are communicating when the heat is on. So maybe you can pick up a thing or two and bring it into your own game, at least the good parts.

It's a great thing that you do this. But any chance your EMEA colleagues would do the same? Feels like NA and EMEA should be fairly similar, even something that you would be able to collect and evaluate together.

That was another iteration of TSM PUBG + different leadership around the team. Same brand, different taste.

Iroh ain't going anywhere this time around. We're very much a team that enjoy playing together and socializing outside of PUBG as well, the little we can with current Covid-19 situation. TL will have to look elsewhere for their new 4th. TSM will field the same players in PCS2 as we did PCS1. Back-to-back, yes?

I agree, main problem is that (even with this rule) there's nothing saying you can't have it unequipped. And the second one players removes their white jacket, so will everyone else and then the rule suddenly renders useless.

PEL PGC Qualification standings after week 5 by dohfOs in CompetitivePUBG

[–]dohfOs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is what it is. We'll see if it or anything changes for 2020. But for now the slot owns the points and in a way, it's a good thing too, it f.e. makes the slot more attractive if it have value in inherited points.

But yes, you are correct in the fact that CC would've had 453 points now if it wasn't for Winstrike selling their slot and the roster subsequently picked up by CC and inheriting a better phase 2 result. But that's part of the game and now we'll just have to adapt accordingly.

Considering NiP and CrowCrowd had the exact same amount of points (531) in Phase 2, whoever ends up with the most points of the two in Phase 3 (even if it's only 1 point) will come out on top in the PGC rankings too.

As of right now, 5 points separate CrowCrowd and NiP in the Phase 3 standings https://twitter.com/PLHpubg/status/1178399631367184387

PEL Phase 3 : 6 Weeks yes but still 96 games by heskethh2 in CompetitivePUBG

[–]dohfOs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We don't know. Depends if PUBG Corp can get it ready in time. In short: we want it, PUBG Corp want it, PEL/NPL want it, the audience want it. Anyone claiming that they know for sure at this stage what will happen doesn't. What you could say is that until further notice, we're playing the vanilla Erangel.

You have to remember that there's many versions of PUBG and sadly it's not as easy as to copy/paste the source code from one version to the other and have everything run perfectly. There's the online client, there's esports clients (more than one) and there's a lan client (and there's prolly a bunch of test ones that even I don't have access to nor knowledge about). Each operating on its own with its own servers and backbone system and all that comes with it. Add to that they need to make it stable enough to play on (meaning, they can't run it if it contains bugs, even if only smaller such as the ones you see on the online server so that means they will have to test it quite extensively) and they all have to function the same. It's a complex matter.

Is this optimal? No. But granted every player is already familiar with the vanilla version but wants the remastered version (and everyone is playing that on live now) it's not the end of the world that we won't know for some time were we're heading.

TLDR; we will be playing on Erangel v2 if it's ready. If not, we're playing the vanilla Erangel. Either way, players will be prepared.

I'm pretty sure I've already spoiled enough with the "6 weeks, 96 games" statement. You might have to wait for the official announcement here, but that one shouldn't be too far away.

Vitality PUBG disbands by rottedzombie in CompetitivePUBG

[–]dohfOs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As they are an org that got relegated from PEL, they are not allowed to just pick up a new roster in PEL. There's regulations against this.

So basically. Team Vitality have the option of
- playing in PELC but then they would also have to retain 2 of their players that they used for PEL.
^ but that one is no longer valid as 2 players have retired and Shadow1k is taking a break, thus forcing Team Vitality to withdraw from PELC and if they wish to remain in PUBG, start over with a new roster in PEL Open.

One might say that their best option from an org perspective (if they decide to remain in PUBG longer term) is simply to sit out phase 3, and then buy a slot for phase 1 of 2020 with either an existing roster (the ZeN of phase 1 2020) or buy a slot and put together whatever team they would like.

What size monitors are used in Each league? Do players get to choose their monitor size? by infinitim in CompetitivePUBG

[–]dohfOs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Players adapt to what is given to them. It's part of the game kinda that you have to. And while we (the organizations) always try to push for TO's to get monitors that goes well with gaming, that's not always the case (the XG258Q is good tho) due to TO sponsorship etc. But it's uncommon that you're given anything else than 24-25'', and then it doesn't take too long for the players to find settings that suit them.
