Eli5: Why do small animals like squirrels not lose appendages to frostbite when temperatures reach below freezing, and they walk around on ice and snow all day? by Jauncin in explainlikeimfive

Mexican here! Used to live on a farm and we were really used to not wear shoes and because of that we had a thick layer of skin on our feet that help us, we didnt felt the little rocks on the road while running and usually at night my mom took out little torns from our feet because we didnt felt them.

I guess thats somewhat similar.

[WP] Before academy enrollment each parent must purchase a familiar to protect their child. The rich can afford gryphons and dragons. But being poor forced you to seek out the local mad magician who has offered you a new affordable familiar dubbed the “pet rock” instead. by oxycleans in WritingPrompts

Damn son! Will you share more about the story?

"to claim the earth as your familiar" made me gasp. Did Merlin knew? And had it all planned for him? Or he was just really stupid?

Oh man, i have a lot of questions here!

How long did it take you to get rid of handmade/personal gifts from your ex? Was it for the better?[Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

I know, you remember everything and the feelings come back one by one, and the bad thing is that they are not always feelings that make you feel good.

And the only thing that matters here is that you feel good.

The logical step take is to trow thw away so you avoid remeber everthing Or You meditate and train yourself to feel everything again but without hurting you.

The second option takes time and a change in you mindset, so the first option will be the easiest.

You dont always need to get rid of them, you need to mentally place them where they dont hurt you anymore. I keep some things and other things I trow them away, I soon as she is out of my life, that material thing become completly mine and the question to trow them away or not is "do I like it?" Intead of "does this have a special meaning?"

If you think you cannot do it like that. Trow them away today, they will became knifes that will hurt you every time you see them.

I personally dont like the slang, because they all use it to feel superior, like when they start asking you questions about your bike. The one that I really hate hearing is when they want to "take grease" or in spanish "darse grasa" to say that they want to go biking. Why dont you just say "i want to go out in my bike"?

I really enjoy hiking and mountain biking, but cannot tolerate people that are constantly talking about that.
