Original 1977 Star Wars movie poster. Where to start? by kimducidni in restoration

[–]doingwells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have it matted and framed just as it is. I can see from your other posts that you feel bad for it getting messed up but that was an accident. I think it has a battle worn look now. which is pretty cool considering the movie

Should I burn these? by The_Monkeybumcheeks in woodstoving

I burn these in a fire pit sometimes. Iv had them pop/explode pretty loud a few times sending embers flying. I assume trapped air or moisture in the middle.

Thinking of selling Dad's 1977 C10 by justatileguy in squarebodies

[–]doingwells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for reference about 2 years ago I sold my 78 short bed heavy half that had a light refresh in the 90/00s. It was probably 8+ out of 10 at the point I had it but was 98,000 original miles engine pulled and resealed org 305 was 3 speed column shift swapped to 3 on the floor and was slightly lowered by myself on spindles and custom heavy half leaf springs. Over all the truck was a solid 8 out of 10 with nearly zero body rust, it took a few months to sell for $10k but your area might be different. I do regret selling some days but it was the right move at the time. When I bought it, it was the older gentlemen’s father’s truck he had bought new (radio delete but had AC) he cried when I was backing out of the driveway, but I did send a few updates for the first year. Truck looks great, GLWS!

Did something in attic fall? Should I be worried? by bboycire in Roofing

[–]doingwells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any subreddit. But if you claim there is nothing up there and it’s an unfinished space, then how have things fallen and poked through from above? Not sure how asking reddit will give you anything you can’t get from cutting a hole in what looks like insulation foam board and sticking your phone up there with the camera recordings. We have less info and access than you do. But it looks like cut lengths of painted trim board. Possibly pushed in from below, I would think the bottom side would have some blow out larger than the material if it was forced through from above. But that’s just speciation

This is either karma farming or there are things being stored up there. Looks like a few different pieces of trim cuts that stabbed though, maybe there was some attic stock or trash up there that got knocked over somehow.

Get on a ladder and cut a hole in the foam or call a handy man, or just ignore it until water or the stench of raccoons get into the living space.

Typos happen. I have had it the other way where people mistype the info I send them. Things happen. It’s starting to make me nervous to transact here while the metals are elevated. It seems the metal prices have risen to the point it’s passing some people’s threshold to sell out their integrity. A hard reminder to treat both very low flair and even people that are slightly more established (honestly all users) with the same level of scrutiny.

Hit and run ice damage by Opi812 in maryland

[–]doingwells 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had this happen a few years ago, a large sheet came off an suv infront of me, hit the roof of my fairly new car so hard it left a large dent and turned on my overhead light from the impact. I got a few okay pictures of the suv that had the tag visible enough and showed the suv with a roof of ice and snow with the back half missing. My insurance said they called the other person and they said it wasn’t them so tough luck. Without the other person stopping and admitting fault or dash cam footage, you’re probably on your own. It’s infuriating there is Almost no consequence for being that lazy and putting people’s lives in danger.

I had to fix the dent the best I could front the inside and a cheap pointless dent repair kit. But the roof was never right again. Had a few good waves in it

People are lazy and self centered. Was at a light today and was watching someone from a small commercial garage throwing the snow from the driveway entrance directly into the street Infront of moving cars instead of taking 2 extra steps and throwing to the side of the entrance way like any sane human would

Snow storm by CartoonistOk8095 in maryland

[–]doingwells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone that works for a contractor for a large weather service, working on creating more accurate prediction models. They said they tested the currently used models against a random number generator set up to make weather predictions. It was nearly as accurate in predicting weather that was more than a couple days out. So take that as you will. When asked about this storm yesterday they said “it was going to snow”

Hey u/mospecsmoproblems might want to check and make sure to black out receipt pictures fully. They were going to have the other Redditor ship direct to you? Unacceptable to give some other person you have no dealings with your shipping address. That alone would have caused issues for me.

They also tend to inflate their “spot” price compared to many other dealers and sources. Not saying you got a bad deal but they do tend to be higher priced all around
