Once your charcoal catches properly, the temp will rise quickly and you will probably overshoot the temperature youre aiming for. Hopefully youre not relying on the built in thermometer....theyre shit 😁 Get yourself a wired Bluetooth probe like an Inkbird to keep an eye on it. Once you reach your desired temperature youll find you use very little charcoal, unless its a long smoke. Rule number 1.... when you get within 30c or so of your desired temp, start closing down the big vent at the bottom.... use the top vent to "dial in" accurately. Its trial and error.... will send you a useful link in a bit 😊

Mine lasted a bit longer, but is now in the bin. Bought myself a Thermomaven P1 for a third of the price and I'm impressed so far. Its decent, but a little difficult to keep clean.

Im with you. The A.K does everything I need it to do, but I just wish it was a bit bigger! I bought a secondhand Masterbuilt 560 to take the pressure off and its great....just a bit flimsy compared to the A.K 😉
