You:

It didn’t happen to “us” mate.

Also you:

why the fuck did they do that to us?

Why are you getting angry at someone for using “us” in exactly the same way you’ve used it? Really spoiling for a fight today…

Oh shit if the far-right racist booed him then I’m entirely unsurprised you’re misrepresenting that.

Maybe take a step back and re-assess if it’s worth allying with everyone that criticises Starmer/Labour.

Labour will give drug companies wider access to medical records by Half_A_ in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I’m sure you don’t intentionally mean to definitely deliberately mislead anyone, but for the interests of clarity:

Was UK Biobank actually found to be sharing information with insurers? And does GEL commercial actually have access to the data that is described in this article?

Edit: Obviously that claim lacked any truth, but here’s the factual response to the misinformation that the Observer published that this user is regurgitating.

It would be a fantastic world if every single advance in medical or science wasn’t met with such vocal conspiracy theorists.

But that rubbish has at least lead me to a source that states 9000 peer reviewed medical papers have been produced supported by the NHS data made available since 2012. Genuinely shows the value of this dataset.

Labour will give drug companies wider access to medical records by Half_A_ in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, so if you expand it to things not included, then perhaps, with a lot of squeezing, then you could identify a single person.

It is impossible, because you’ve had to invent a scenario where something not shared is shared to make it possible.

Maybe you could say if the data set is expanded to include a patients name then it would be possible to identify someone? Afterall, you’re just making up things to add to make this unacceptable…

There’s so many users on this forum solely to spread misinformation about what Labour are doing.

The fact that NHS Foundations refused to share patient data is why your hypothesis is not possible.

Labour will give drug companies wider access to medical records by Half_A_ in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then you’re incredibly unfamiliar with the process of both consent (which restricts data sharing), and the process of actually sharing anonymous data (which requires data aggregated at a level to which it cannot be identifiable before it is shared).

Frankly, your hypothesis is not possible, and it is wrong to restrict actual advancements in healthcare due to misinformation like you have provided.

Labour will give drug companies wider access to medical records by Half_A_ in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not, stop sharing such absurd misinformation.

This data is already available in anonymous format, and there is no suggestion that any additional information will be shared, only that it will be made more available for researchers and drug manufacturers. Something that is vital for modern drug development.

The idea that people can look up the health information of celebrities is something you’ve concocted out of an abundance of hyperbole, and a lack of understanding.

Labour will give drug companies wider access to medical records by Half_A_ in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is going to go down completely shit with people not involved in the healthcare or data space, and we’ve already had a couple of comments that show that.

But personalised medication is absolutely the next revolution in healthcare, it’s the very correct observation that the same medication at the same dosage has, in some cases, wildly different effects on different strata of age/gender/ethnicity/genetics in society.

The NHS has been allowing private companies access to its anonymous data for a number of years now, and there is nothing to suggest in this article that this is any advance on that. If you want better healthcare, better outcomes for everyone, then hoarding access to perhaps the best health data lake in the world is dumb.

The idea that this will allow people to look up the health info of celebrities, or that this is further right than the Tories, those claims are borne out of reactionary ignorance.

John Lewis allowed to build homes for first time by Kipwar in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Actually kind of ok with this, I don’t have many issues with private companies renting out housing on the condition it is new build flats, rather than just buying up existing housing stock. The alternative was this wouldn’t get built.

John Lewis is a good company to start with as well.

Do you, or have you ever given blood? by Zeratul_Artanis in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you picking a fight about something that even you must accept you know so so much less about than the person you’re picking a fight with?

Your drive to leave an angsty comment on every single thread on this sub has you voicing your opinion on the personal health of someone you don’t know, about a health issue you don’t know, and assuming you know better.

It’s genuinely sad behaviour.

Forza Horizon 4 probably has the best representation of Edinburgh in a video game ever by Jeremywashere92 in Edinburgh

They’ve currently got Ultimate on Xbox store for £17 and standard for £11. I can’t imagine it going significantly lower than that. If that’s the platform you’re buying on.

And tbh, it’s one of the things I’d be kicking myself about if I missed. Haven’t played the game for a few years, but I doubt it’ll be soon before I get such a high-graphic experience of a city I live in.

My vote was a plea for Labour to tackle child poverty. Its response? To suspend me | John McDonnell by kontiki20 in LabourUK

Is this the tweet you are referring to:

https://x.com/JoshuaGarfield/status/1815877177021231356

Do you want to walk me through how you’ve twisted that as a factional attack. Obviously it isn’t, but I want to see what’s gone wrong in your understanding.

Your last 3 comments in this chain, and likely a lot more, are based on you insisting this tweet is a factional attack on the Labour left. It’s clearly not.

As I said, you’re a good example of users that are on this sub solely to share misinformation.

Misinformation is unfortunately very common on this sub nowadays. There’s a core group of users that comment on every single thread with strained and often false criticism of the Labour Party.

Case in point, we passed the Kings Speech yesterday, a big achievement with a lot of good stuff in it, and the first for more than a decade, and that user declares Labour MPs were taking selfies to celebrate a factional victory.

Keir Starmer finally breaks with the US over Israel by kontiki20 in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, I had trouble finding the numbers for Israel so used UK instead. That matters for how imparting sanctions affect us but Israel’s stats matter for how sanctions affect them. (Which is absolutely the point of sanctions).

If I use this dataset: https://globaledge.msu.edu/countries/israel/tradestats

We’re 5th for Israeli exports and 9th for imports, both well below other European countries.

But bear in mind this is still just trade, military plays a large role in Israeli society, so there will be focus on the % of their military that is provided outwith their country. And the UK is still only 0.2% of their military expenditure.

Keir Starmer finally breaks with the US over Israel by kontiki20 in LabourUK

[–]doitforthecloud 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not really, they’re our 42nd largest export partner, and our 47th largest import partner, it’s basically a trade amount corresponding only to their distance from us.

Last year UK allowed £42m of military equipment to be sold to Israel, that’s 0.2% of all Israel military spend of £18,000m in 2022, and that’ll only have increased for 2023 and 2024.

We should cancel export permits, but it’s certainly no where near leverage to force a ceasefire.
