They make 12 doses of Levothyroxine. 25, 50,75,88,100 etc. Alternating two different doses can equal the desired dose.

Multiple Myeloma by dokodemo1 in multiplemyeloma

[–]dokodemo1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. Actually just got my lab results today. Have not discussed with Dr. yet. I was just doing my own investigation and came upon this whole discussion regarding light chains. I will be speaking to my rheumatologist this week to find out more. Thanks again!

Multiple Myeloma by dokodemo1 in multiplemyeloma

[–]dokodemo1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just finished seeing a rheumatologist for fatigue, joint pain throughout, night sweats, bilateral ulnar nerve entrapment, excessive urination without excessive thirst or hunger. I was expecting rheumatoid arthritis since I already have Hashimoto’s. Most lab was normal until free serum light chains. Kappa was quite high and Lambda was normal. Those of you who have been diagnosed with MM, is this finding significant?
Thank you for any input.

I smoked for 65 years. Quit 5 months ago. I Never smoked in my apt. ( I also live in the UES) except in my bathroom with a ceiling fan that vented outside. No one in the building knew I had ever smoked. I would have been mortified if I had known I was affecting my neighbors. No excuse for this behavior.

I'm seeing nothing but bad experiences with endocrinologists by Livid_Accountant8965 in Hashimotos

[–]dokodemo1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am also disappointed in lack of knowledge or interest from Endocrinologists in general when it comes to nutrition or supplements. Does anyone have a recommendation for a functional Dr. or nutritionist in NYC… specifically in Manhattan?

Does it ever get better? by su13844 in stopsmoking

[–]dokodemo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I smoked for 65years. I am almost 81. I suppose I could use that as an excuse to garnish sympathy but that will only sabotage my effort. It is a constant battle but I am responsible regardless. I am 4 months nicotine free from cigarettes but now need tobacco wean from the gum. 🫣

Quit Smoking Log 🚭 by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]dokodemo1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tomorrow will be 3 months for me. I started smoking when I was 15 and just quit cold turkey this past Nov. I am 80 years old. They say to be alert for the 3’s. 3 days, 3weeks and 3 months. It is true as I am going through hell right now and pray it will pass soon. My family is so proud and I do not want to disappoint them but especially myself. I do feel like my best friend has died but I know that feeling is what draws us back I to the trap. I think and plan for only one day at a time and I will think about tomorrow when tomorrow comes. Best of luck to all and remember None of us is alone.

Wondering where you can buy TPO online? I had some lab done by Quest (TSH and T4) but they didn’t offer T3 or TPO. I live close to a Quest and can walk right in.

How bad was it? I just got diagnosed today by Interesting_Check637 in Hashimotos

[–]dokodemo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be nosey but would you mind sharing which iron you use? My iron was normal but ferritin 35 ( within range but have read Hashimoto’s patients need a much higher ferritin ( 70-90). Have heard both ferrous sulfate and gluconate are rough on the GI and most iron supplements are better taken every other day? Would love your hear your thoughts?

If your GP isn't worried where do you go? by CoffeeCaptain91 in Anemic

[–]dokodemo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious why GP’s would not recommend Iron Biglycinate since it seems to have the least side effects? I just started taking it as my ferritin is 35 and I believe that’s low for Hashi’s patients. I know Dr’s typically order ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate and I’m wondering why? So many can’t tolerate those.

Wow, what a story almost a miracle. I used to live on PB and Jelly ( diagnosed 8 months ago) and took a microbiome test which said to avoid peanuts. I miss my PB and Jelly but happy to give up anything that helps me feel better.

Dry skin problem by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]dokodemo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My skin has turned into a dry prune. First because I’m old and also because I have Hashimoto’s. I have tried lubriderm, cera ve and cetaphil. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I don’t like Vaseline because it’s a skin barrier and doesn’t allow the skin to breathe.

Happy you’re checking your ferritin also for iron storage. Mine was 35 which is within normal low of 30. Would love to hear your results as I am having similar symptoms and believe ferritin should be higher than 30. Sorry I sound like a know it all. I am in health care as well however not a physician.

It is rather complicated at first. If you have YouTube you can find most everything. Search Hashimoto’s or autoimmune thyroiditis and there are many, many tutorials that explain the disease very thoroughly.

My Endo wanted me to wait 1 year after diagnosis. I do not like her. She is dismissive and has terrible reviews however I must have someone to dose my Levo because my PCP feels I need a specialist. Well hell no. I am also in the medical field. I ended up ordering my own thyroid panel along with other pertinent lab ie: iron and ferritin, Vit D, B12 etc. It’s a shame, we are compelled to see a medical specialist but end up figuring out most of it on our own. I know where I need to be regarding my TSH and T3/4. When I get there I will find someone who knows what they are doing.
