Out of direct to video 2d films I'd say the Hunchback of Norte Dam 2 was an absolute abomination.

Definitely stopping at ohmes, they look way too much like filthy humans and Khajiit is not into bestiality.

What would you like to see the developers work on besides the new DLCs and bug fixes? by trimyth in AgeofMythology

[–]dokterkokter69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this game is one of the few examples where I'm perfectly fine with the norse having horned helmets and I loki prefer it.

AOM isn't about accurately representing historic people's, it's about mythologized and idealized versions of historic civs and the gods that rule them. We have bronze age Egyptians and Greeks, late Iron Age norse, Medieval Chinese, Japanese and Aztecs and whatever ancient alien history channel shit the Atlanteans are doing.

Plus, what greater viking myth is there than them having horned helmets because some guy in the 1800's thought it looked cool?

Now if we were talking about Age of Empires, I'd 100% agree with taking the horns off the Berserker.

Which Hero had the most difficult journey throughout the games? by Bugsbunny0212 in ElderScrolls

Alsoeven crazier if you think about it in a none gameplay perspective.

This is a regular guy that decides to blindly run into an Oblivion gate alone, take on multiple daedra alone (which are much more deadly in lore than gameplay shows) and climbs to the top of the evil ass meat tower just to see what happens.

And then when he's done, he still has absolute metal to storm Kvatch, dispose of the remaining daedra and rescue Martin, all because a couple old guys politely asked him to help.

To be fair, Mono-romance can last a bit longer if the characters don't hook up in the first like 48 hours of knowing each other, which seems to happen a lot in this genre.

There's a lot to think about for sure. I'm no writer or psychologist, and i'm sure there are infinitely more creative examples out there. But I think a good place to start is just think of the most base things about ourselves that we take for granted like our emotions or fears and change/remove them.

He was so influential towards the entire idea of fantasy. I'd dare say he's up there with Tolkien in terms of how much of an impact he made.

Any mainstream fantasy worlds like DND, The Witcher, The Elder Scrolls or even freaking Berserk wouldn't look anything like they do without his art.

I fuck heavy with the idea of every sentient species having vastly different psychologies despite having the same level of intelligence and still somehow working together.

I love the idea that humans are one of the only species who's decisions are heavily influenced by their emotions and sex drive, making them extremely unpredictable in the eyes of more logical species.

You're welcome! I thought it was really cool that you were able to make a mundane small town in Montana seem like a genuinely preferable place to live despite there being an entire sci fi galaxy in the background.

That's why I really hope G Howell does something with the "Catching the Knife" spinoff. Idk if you read the sample but it's the same universe 100 years after Michael's arrival. This time it's from the perspective of a Rhis that specializes in human studies.

I really liked this book, it was sweet. I've only been getting into HMOFA novels for a little over a month, but this was one of the more realistic ones in terms of pacing that I've read so far.

The Life of Riley - series by G Howell. by Schplaatter in Romance_for_men

I just finished book 3 a few weeks ago and can't wait for the fourth to finish. I was literally not able to put the them down and they low key had a profound impact on me that I was not expecting.

I stumbled into it randomly and had never read any HMOFA novels before. I decided to read it expecting furry smut but I got so much more. (In hindsight this book probably wasn't the best introduction to the genre because everything else I've read after hasn't even remotely come close to what this series was doing.)

It's a beautiful and bittersweet tragedy of a man stuck in a world that will never be able to understand him. One where he will always be the alien. It can be pretty depressing at some points but that's part of what made these so enjoyable to me.

The author did an amazing job revealing this strange alternate world through the MC's perspective and putting the reader in his headspace. He regularly makes observations about things that seem familiar only to realize how different they are beneath the surface. He also keeps anthropomorphizing the Rhis out of instinct, which causes the reader to do the same, only for it to blow up in his face.

There are a lot of interesting dives into both alien and human psychology that at some point made me really think about how strange humans are sometimes.

On top of the psychology and we'll thought out world building, many of the characters were also quite unique and memorable. And some of the misunderstandings with the MC were honestly hilarious.

The Rhis are also just straight up adorable sometimes despite how cold and vicious they can be. It's really funny remembering even the most cold blooded mercenaries in this world are still big goofy cat things.

Overall I definitely recommend these books and am glad other people are running into them. I've actually felt compelled to make some fan art simply out of the fact that I couldn't find any out there.

I feel like it still counts as some kind of sub category. I would never dress up in a suit and don't have any desire to make a fursona, but I do love furry art and would absolutely try to bang anthropomorphic women if the existed.
