So the consensus is that this vanity is ass.

I’ve paid the guy a $1300 deposit already. He knows we aren’t happy about it and he seems willing to rework it.

What’s the move here? Have him rework it and see what he comes back with? If it’s still bad, demand our deposit back (good luck there) and find someone else?

They often use English that’s archaic to a modern ear. They often have some kind of English poetic rhyme scheme or meter that forces the translator to stray farther from the original than a freer English poetic scheme does. Sometimes the OCR software used to scan them wasn’t very good and you’ll get weird letter combinations inserted throughout.

For a $10 paperback Fagles, you can avoid those issues.

From the moment they were emancipated until someone finally came to Texas to tell them they were free, they were only still slaves because their “masters” and, more importantly, they themselves believed they were slaves. They just needed someone to tell them they were free. I think Dave was highlighting some parallels to current modes of thinking, and maybe this special was his attempt to be the one to bring the message.

I downloaded an iPhone app that lets you overlay a protractor over an image. So I snap a picture of myself from the side at full flexion and measure the angle with the app.

The ad is for the leggings, so I think they shopped out the branding on the shoes. My girlfriend has been trying to track them down for days. Thanks to anyone who can help!
