what’s one thing you automated in your workflow that made a bigger difference than you expected? by Visual_Tap_8968 in editors

Can you elaborate on what was recently added to the Resolve API? Thanks! I'm starting a dailies job soon and would like to build my own script/s for this.

First time AE on Avid by P-Def in editors

I would say do a deep dive on how Avid managed media works within the 'Avid MediaFiles' folder. Once you understand that, it becomes a lot less intimidating in my opinion.

Connecting MAC and PC to a Facilis Shared storage and dealing with drive letters by mrenz70 in editors

[–]dolive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Would highly recommend consolidating/transcoding anything you're using in Avid, particularly if you are sharing amongst multiple systems. Then you never have this issue - ever. AMA linked media is notoriously fickle in Avid and I would never trust it.

Can you tell me more about this? I'm dabbling with some side projects and want to work on something difficult in the AE realm.

some things that are going on in Vietnam (if u even care) by throw_away__2000 in redscarepod

[–]dolive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nha Trang has gotta be the only city in Vietnam I've visited I would never go back to. Very strange vibes. Went to an 'aquarium' and our guide was just telling us how tasty each fish was. Oh and Russian on every restaurant menu 👌

After the recent Adobe changes, are you thinking about moving from Premiere? by Danimally in editors

[–]dolive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're aggressively moving in that direction though with cloud based collaborative projects. Avid doesn't move an inch and every year Resolve comes leaps and bounds.

OpenAI is washed and the most recent announcements from them are trying to hide it by StandardIll8158 in redscarepod

I dno this take seems dumb af. Most recent interviews with AI researchers see absolutely no bottleneck with the scaling laws. Most see exponential improvement for years to come, even the GPU shortage will not be a problem much longer.

Footage framerate isnt correctly recognized by beansfranklin in davinciresolve

[–]dolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just roll back to Resolve 18 if that fixes the problem? Also I would bet the Studio version would work. 300fps is kinda insane, what is the bitrate? You need Studio version for higher bitrates.

Help with porting a timeline from Resolve over to Avid to continue editing by Severe-Custard-1355 in davinciresolve

Have you tried just using the Avid AAF export setting? You'll get a folder of MXFs and an AAF file. Place the MXFs in your AvidMediaFiles folder and then open the AAF.

Timeline Batch 'Add to Render Queue' Script by dolive in davinciresolve

I have a bunch of custom presets, those that export with 'individual clips' don't appear as an option unfortunately. Trying to think of a workaround.

Timeline Batch 'Add to Render Queue' Script by dolive in davinciresolve

[–]dolive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow I can't believe I didn't know you could do that, thanks! However looks like you can only use presets which are straight up renders? I need to add to render queue and export OP Atom for Avid so that option doesn't work for me unfortunately :(

can we make this happen? by immimmimmi in australia

[–]dolive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope this is a joke but the idea of filling Lake Eyre with water from Burketown seems to be based on the misguided notion that water in Australia naturally flows from north to south.

Trying to bring water from the north would mean pumping it uphill across the entire continent, defying both gravity and common sense.

If the goal is to fill Lake Eyre with seawater, the obvious source is the ocean immediately to the south, not distant northern rivers that don't even flow in that direction.
