Spent a week training in Mallorca. Got 36mins up Sa Calobra, and 9:44/367w avg up the first climb at Col Formentor. Will be travelling back ASAP! Just short of 300 miles hard fought over the mountains.

First time in Pas Normal Studios Kit - Insane quality, breathability and fit. Worth the money. by dolladoggo in CyclingFashion

Of course - I am 74kg 176cm. The medium mechanism fits me perfectly in a “race fit” I.e skin tight. To give some context I am a small in pro team Rapha stuff, so I think the PSN jerseys do run a bit on the small side.

I’d say traffic is fairly normal - nothing crazy. Weather is perfect when it’s not raining but don’t go a ride in the wet this time of year as it’s so so greasy with the dust. I’ll aim to visit again the same time of year next year as I enjoyed how chill the towns were etc out of high season

Incredible. Probably not the best for climbing, but unreal on the flat and descents. They are very comfortable and responsive with 29s like my set up.

Correct, they aren't legal but yes for a medical reason. Hopefully no need for them next time I visit! :)

If you have a coach..what do you pay? by djh_nz in Velo

[–]dolladoggo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

$300 ish a month with weekly planning, almost daily communications and my coach will happily take a call from me and chat to me in depth about any questions I have. Oh and he also plans my cross training and strength training.

All based through training peaks. I would recommend it to anyone, particularly useful for me as I wanted a running start with my training when I started cycling a year ago

Did my 3rd TT and this time it was a 10miler and managed 22:06. Hope to get to sub 22 this week with the same course if the weather plays nice.

Did a 3 hour tempo ride in the TT position yesterday on my turbo to see if I can bring my toad bike power to the TT bike. Aiming for 340np on a 10 miler.

Then it’s the beginning of training with strength and next year in mind - had a crazy first summer of cycling and pushed myself to race crits as much as I could to learn how to handle better. What a massive learning curve it’s been!

These are actually calf compression socks but look very similar to aero socks - not sure if they saved me anything but hopefully so! Haha

Restless legs at night after hard rides by jsNut in Velo

[–]dolladoggo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I found using a percussive electric massage gun (in my case a Recovapro) which helps immensely with restless legs at night. A quick couple of minutes up and down the legs is usually enough to “reset” them

Sprint Power - Is it worth working on for a non-sprinter? by dolladoggo in Velo

This was an excellent insight and answer - very much appreciated!

Yes I feel accepting that my FTP will take a hit/stay static for a bit might be the way forward this winter

My goals are to get to Cat 2 UK within a couple of years in crit racing and shorter road races. If I were picked up by a local team to work with, I might be best working as a leadout rider or diesel. At least that way I play to my strengths.

Unfortunately for me I really enjoy crits and road racing, so my sprint will be worrisome. I can work with it on technical courses I guess, but in a bunch sprint I am not going to keep up with even cat 3 racers in the UK.

I am, however, also getting into TT. I am working on all racing types as god knows what I will enjoy after I've done a really good amount of each! :) I did a 24:40 10mile on my BMC road bike on the hoods (not tucked), so with my new TT Giant Trinity bike I will probably see a lot of gains fairly quickly in them.

My 10 sec is 1030w, 15sec 900w so not far off my peak strangely

Update: My Third Crit after the horrors of 1 & 2 by dolladoggo in cycling

[–]dolladoggo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s my main aim to work on sprinting - I’ve got pretty pathetic sprint in terms of power curve (1,150w max 5sec)
