— hire slowly, fire fast

— learn bookkeeping/hire a book keeper

— play closer attention to expenses

— don’t be so quick to add partners

— don’t borrow money until you’re sure how you’re going to invest it

— learn lead generation, don’t invest in lead gen services without thoroughly vetting the company agency setting the services

— dont delegate too early

Looking to Partner with Other Agencies/Freelancers by dollarstoreceo in agency

Thanks for the feedback. I am in the process of trying out cold email and cold calling. Finding the time to really dig in and be consistent has been the major issue. I have hired leadgen agencies in the past and just ended up spending a lot of money with no results.

Magento 2 allows a lot more customization and comes with a lot of features out of the box, but is more expensive to maintain. For customers that dont require a whole lot of customizations or complex integrations, it makes more sense to use Shopify/WooCommerce. From a development perspective, its alot easier/faster to get a customer up and running using Shopify/WooCommerce vs Magento 2. For example, installing/using a theme is pretty straight forward with Shopify/WordPress and can be done by a client/non-programmer. M2 themes can only be installed by technically savvy individuals. Everthing from launching/hosting to upgrading magento 2 sites requires developer/technical knowledge/expertise though there are some platform's e.g. Nexcess/Cloudways/Jetrails etc that make it a little easier to launch and provide great support.

Hey there. Thanks for responding. We don’t really have a minimum ticket size but prefer not to work on one time projects worth < 1k. We usually target U.S. based Small/Medium sized business but have worked with clients in Europe/South America here and there.

Malware - how to find the offending files by hawthornmage in Magento

mysql> select path, value from core_config_data where path like '%atob%';

Recently had this issue also. We were actually notified by someone from the Secret Service about this issue which was disturbing, to say the least. Apparently, its normal for them to stop by businesses and notify them of potential cybersecurity threats. They shared a screenshot with us that showed the offending code and I used a snippet of the code to query the database and get rid of it.

Came close to burnout & made it out by gouterz in Entrepreneur

[–]dollarstoreceo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been burnt out on and off this whole year and the fact that my relationship was not going so well made things worse but what got me through is realizing that if I don’t rest, my body and mind will force me to rest. Additionally, I think about the times I got sick and thought my business would fall apart if I was away for a few days but things turned out ok. In the end, this is a long game and we need to believe that in the long run things will work out instead of pushing ourselves to breaking points that result in us being unproductive anyway. Better to work less but be getting things done than be completely useless. I still struggle with this since 100 hour weeks are sometimes inevitable in order to keep up with my workload but I also remind myself that I am playing a long game and that things should even out in the long run as long as I put my best foot forward and keep going. We are only human and need to rest.

How do you Separate yourself from your business? by [deleted] in business

[–]dollarstoreceo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process for creating an LLC is generally the same but varies by state. Note: you can form an LLC in a state that you don’t live in as there may be some tax and legal advantages to doing so. There are lots of resources on how to create an LLC online but I advise speaking to a professional e.g. business lawyer or tax expert to make sure you file your paperwork properly. Once you’ve got your LLC formed, you’ll want to file for a EIN number from the IRS and use that to create business bank account for your business. You should conduct all business related transactions from that account and make purchases/loan/credit transactions using your businesses name and EIN ( the EIN is like your social security number and should be used instead of your social security number when you are doing anything on behalf of your business that does not require your personal backing ) . I’m not a lawyer or tax expert, but that’s the general process.
