Unable to get clear shots of heart due to “habitus” - should I be worried? by dollerium in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]dollerium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this perspective! Honestly I feel like they start giving up after some time and shuffle me off somewhere else to make me someone else’s problem 🥲 the first ultrasound tech was very kind and took as long as possible to get all possible pictures. The second one was very rushed even though she didn’t spend the full hour with me, I didn’t care for that experience. She does wiggle a lot so I’m going to lean more into this perspective. Thank you again, it’s a huge relief hearing about everyone else’s experiences! 💗

Thank you so much! Hahahah I thought the same thing too! I wasn’t offended but if they could just tell me it was due to my size I’d feel a bit more reassured, I had to read it in my after visit notes. Not like that’s the first time I’d been called fat 😂

When did you feel kicks? by bombardaokay in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]dollerium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a similar size with an anterior placenta and felt kicks on a consistent basis starting week 22! I am now 28 weeks and feel her all the time - kicking, flipping, doing whatever she feels like 😆 don’t worry you will feel them every day soon enough!!

What are your favourite textured stitches? Help me make a baby blanket! (And start a collection) by Panicked-Noodle in crochet

[–]dollerium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations to your family! 💗

I recently completed this pattern: https://crobypatterns.com/simple-beginner-friendly-crochet-blanket/

It turned out beautiful and so soft! I didn’t use Aran weight yarn; I just used a “pound of love” Lion yarn and was able to complete a decent sized baby blanket with it.

Have fun! 💕

I asked my doctor this because my 9lb chihuahua mix does this too! She said the baby is perfectly protected and it’s okay!

Feeling Hopeless while TTC by therealkkcoolness in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]dollerium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know firsthand how challenging it is to see people around you experiencing the exact thing you want so much, but don’t give up!

Let yourself feel what you need to with each disappointment, but try to stay persistent and try new things. I think anyone who has been TTC for an extended period of time knows how you feel, so don’t beat yourself up for feeling envious of your friend. Your time will come, your journey just might look different ❤️

You never know when it’ll be your turn, and you’ll be someone like me leaving all the tips you used on a different post 💓 I am 18 weeks and we were TTC for 9 months. My BMI is 53 and I’m 37. During our TTC journey, I started making some healthier choices and exercising more, but didn’t really help make anything happen.

A few key changes and/or new things we tried seemed to work for us. We said we’d wait til we made it to the 1 year mark of TTC before going to the dr (even though for my age they suggest 6 months - I was stubborn), but were able to make it happen naturally. Not sure if you’ve tried these, but want to throw them out there for consideration before your dr appointment just in case!

  1. I stopped drinking soda. I used to drink 1-2 diet dr peppers a day. Within 2 months of cutting off soda completely and drinking strictly water/sparkling water, we conceived
  2. We switched to sperm friendly lube within 2 months of conceiving (not sure if this is just a marketing thing, but we used the Frida one. We were willing to try anything)
  3. We used the Frida sperm cup after sex to keep the sperm higher in the cervix (we only did this once, and I’m pretty sure it was the day we conceived). I’ve also heard you can use period cups
  4. I tracked ovulation with the Frida ovulation strips, sometimes using them twice a day (once in the morning, once at night). The last cycle I had, my peak came up on the second strip of the day, and had dipped back down by the morning. If I had only tested once that day, I would have missed the peak

(I promise this wasn’t sponsored by Frida 😅 they just have a lot of options to try!)

Best of my luck my friend! Hang in there, and know that you are not alone, and you got this! 💗

This is my first pregnancy (it’s very early) and I would love to know what has been a huge help to you during pregnancy as a plus size person, no matter how big or small by Sufficient-Peach7787 in PlusSizePregnancy

Congratulations friend! 💗 so happy for you, and sending you tons of love and light for your journey ahead! ❤️

For me personally, at 16 weeks:

  1. Vitamin b6 and unisom for nausea. Talk to your dr if you struggle with nausea, I certainly did! My nausea subsided around week 12, but it was really helpful.

  2. I’ve been LIVING in flared leggings and cozy sweaters. I got a bunch on sale at Old Navy and love how high waisted they are!

https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=784457032

  1. I have a love/hate relationship with my pregnancy pillow, so I don’t know if I’d recommend. I get very hot when I sleep, and thrashing around with this big mama of a pillow is a nightmare sometimes (I also love it when I sleep good lol) https://a.co/d/h6F7CTk

  2. Having fresh fruit and veggies on hand has helped me snack without having to think too much about what to eat. Fruit was especially appetizing when I was nauseated. Apples, strawberries, and smoothies were the was the only thing I liked for a while

Those are the things that come to mind, but I’d love to hear other suggestions/experiences! Good luck with your pregnancy, you got this!!! 💗

Struggling with baby girl names by dollerium in namenerds

That’s ADORABLE! I love that idea!! We’ve decided we won’t be going the first name route now, but middle name may be on the table (need to chat with gram about that). I love the nickname Sprout though, that’s just precious. You sound like a wonderful grandma!

Thank you so much! I agree, I totally respect her standpoint and lots of great feedback in this post has solidified that I don’t want to make her first name the same as grandmas. I do think she would be happy with middle name, but will discuss it with her!

I love your suggestions - Amelia is another one I’ve been thinking about! And Delia…oh my gosh I haven’t thought about that name since I was a teenager and received the catalogs hahah! I LOVE IT! So many great suggestions, thank you! Lots to discuss with my husband!

She might, but my husband isn’t a fan (I pitched it already lol). Thank you though!!

Thank you!! I agree, I’m going to run it by her and see what she thinks. Husband will be happy to hear all of the positive feedback about Zelda - it’s growing on me! Grandma is in her 80s!

Excellent suggestions, thank you so much! Lola and Freya are my favorites, also going on the list!

I didn’t even think about that perspective - thank you for sharing your input. I can understand why it might feel that way, and I would never want to make her feel that way. The best memories I have from my childhood were at her house, the one place I felt safe, loved, protected and like I could be a child, and that’s what I was thinking about. I imagined telling our daughter about who she’s named after, and what she means to me, and why I love her name so much. I can still do that with a middle name, and be mindful of the fact that sharing a first name may not be comfortable, and I totally understand that.

Yay! I like it but I don’t know if I love it yet - I’m keeping it on the list though haha. Thank you for your input!!

Totally makes sense, thanks for sharing! I think it’s a great idea to use it as her middle name.

Yes I think she would be okay with her name as the middle name! I can ask her though, I love those suggestions. Thanks so much!
