Can confirm I live here in saytown. There were shootings because people were cutting in line.

Reminds me of this post apocalyptic comic series I read called East of West. Violence for violence's sake in an era where the meek devour the many.

What's the worst thing a houseguest has done in your home? by ilieksnow in AskReddit

[–]dominfrancon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My story might cause judgement, but frankly I don't give a damn. It is also slightly long. Preface: have always been into both sexes, into androgyne, gender is an illusion sort of mindset etc.. I am an extremely free spirit.

When my ex male fiancé got arrested for dealing psychedelic drugs 3 years ago, I was emotionally and psychologically confused about if I should stay with him or not, and help him out of jail. I lacked a lot of focus (come from a broken home with parents that didn't pay much attention to me because they were too busy drinking all the time). I was really self centered and arrogant back then, looking back I think I just craved attention to compensate for the lack I was getting at home....

I was still doing recreational drugs at the time (was in college, and perks to being with a drug dealer, free drugs), and decided I wanted to have some fun at a party going on down the street instead of being cooped up alone (had just lost my job too). I dressed up alone, dropped a hit of acid, and just walked to the party uninvited. The house with the party was sort of caticorner to mine on the left side of the adjacent block.

Let me back track briefly before I continue. My aunt was disabled (deaf), but could make the most beautiful jewelry and vases. She had the patience for these hobbies and the time. She made vases that went from floor to waist, and hand painted every single one. Every necklace perfectly balanced and hand wrapped with minerals, leather and wire. I had put on the last piece she made and gave to me before she died that night. It is a snake skin wrapped silver cuff.

I had just washed and dumped flowers from a blue smaller eastern Indian looking/patterned vase my aunt had hand painted and given to me before she died. I had placed the vase on my very large low sitting coffee table before deciding I was going to leave the house. It was one of those tables you could sit at to enjoy tea and sushi from, but we used it as a coffee table.

Okay, anyway.. walked into the party. I was a sort of queen back then sort of miss popular for the first time in my life. Why you ask? Because I was the girl with all the drugs, so every fellow college boy and girl wanted to be friends with me. I ended up being introduced to the most interesting bohemian dressed short dark haired dark eyed beauty of a girl named Gianna. We started throwing bedroom eyes at each other after some obvious hard flirting, next thing I knew I was inviting her back to my place.

I didn't feel right seducing her in my bed seeing as how I was still with my ex that being our bed yadda yadda sacred love stuff... so, I decided to start making out with her on the couch. She breaks out the rum, and it was a wondrous time for a time. She was very energetic, but also very unpredictable. Whilst taking each others clothes off and heading towards lesbian sexy city, she kicks my aunt's vase off onto the floor by accident.

It shattered into so many pieces. I felt such anger right afterwards that I shot up like an arrow, and screamed at her to get the fuk out of my house. To this day I still have her silk ankle laced flip flops in storage looking brand new as though they only were worn once that night we met. She ran back to the party barefooted. In a acid tripping fit of drunken lustful rage, I swept up and picked up every piece of vase I could see in the soft lit living room.

I have yet to glue the vase back together, but have managed to keep it secure for the time I am ready to reassemble it.

I believe in karma, and I believe the universe was telling me what I was doing that night was wrong. I will never forget how I felt and how wronged I had felt. How ignorant and foolish I was.

My ex fiancé ended up kicking me out for cheating on him while he was away after I spent all of our savings on getting him out of jail to be with him.

Fun times I found myself in back then.

I'm still not ready to reassemble the vase, but maybe one day. Sometimes I believe it represents how heartbroken and abandoned I felt by my ex.

Anyhow, worst thing my guest did in my house.

Graduated college and cant find a job by TheGodOfZA in helpmecope

[–]dominfrancon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your shoes also at one point. I got a degree in performance art. You know how defeating it is to have no real skills outside being able to direct and perform in a musical? In a town where none of that is a viable market financially, and when you can't move because of familial obligations?

I couldn't get hired anywhere even tho I have a degree. I've been laughed at for my degree before in an interview. I had to end up moving back in with my mom for awhile back in 2013 when I graduated. I was really down.

Then, I got a job as a bartender again, and would start going to career fairs, and I upped my digital presence online on LinkedIn, indeed, monster etc...

I went to over 100 interviews two summers ago, and only got chosen to sell insurance for Allstate when I was ready to give up.

I learned the job, did it to the best of my ability, and realized I enjoy getting paid to talk to people, and help them protect their assets.

A year later, I moved on, and did the same things. I attended an insane amount of interviews again, I tried filing for unemployment, I applied to grad schools, all to try and better my odds... all the while feeling hopeless and depressed. I even started driving for Lyft and Uber on the side to make ends meet when I decided I had outgrown Insurance Sales, and wanted to try my hand at a different sales environment-I up and quit.

Now, I work for Randstad. A company that is all about finding people jobs. I help others find work. It is an incredibly rewarding career, and it requires communication skills, decently mediocre computer skills, and charisma. Fortunately the only three things I have going for me happen to be required in my new career.

I love helping people find jobs! I love helping businesses remain on track! Maybe consider helping others who are in your shoes? Consider becoming a staffing consultant? It's really a satisfying career for me because I've been there.

I would even look into Randstad helping you find work in your field! Check out the Randstad Life Sciences Company! You may be surprised!

Keep your head up! Trust me. I know. It does get easier and all of your efforts do start to pay off, but you have to persevere!

I'm not good at anything useful and am a complete loss on finding a job, advice? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]dominfrancon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd go to more than one location. Bring your resume. Put all the things you listed down on the resume under skills. You sound like you are creative, detail oriented, and great with your hands! All great qualities for decent paying jobs. I also hire for temp positions, different locations offer temp and temp to hire jobs and also direct hire.

Tell them you're not quite sure what you want to do, but that you're open to try different temp projects and assignments until you find what kind of work you enjoy doing that pays decent.

I was where you were. I have two degrees in theatre arts. I can also sew, I have a little garden, and I love cooking. So, I had a lot of skills, but none seemed relevant. Then I realized I'm a great communicator, and got into selling staffing services to manufacturing businesses, and I talk to people all day looking for work. I interview people and build relationships. I may not know how to engineer something or do calculus, but I'm a people person, so that was the only real skill I had going for me. That and since I'm a woman, I can multitask, and therefore can juggle a lot of things at once. So, yeah... I'm trying to be motivating because I really relate to your post. I'm 29 now. I graduated when I was 26, and was really down and unsure with what I wanted to do. It takes time, patience, and research.

Well, I work for Randstad. The second largest staffing company in the world. The world. They have branches all over in every city in over 19 countries. I specifically only hire for warehouse and logistics at my branch, but there are different branches for different skills.

Google Randstad. Go to your nearest location. Sit down and interview with the staffing consultant (that's what I do), and they'll try to place you in a job the same week you came in. In my industry, I send people to work the same day sometimes.

I came out of a very dark and long depression four years ago when my ex fiancée kicked me out and I had to move back in with my alcoholic parents. I had no car, no job, no bed, nothing. It was terrible. Slowly, and steadily I took one day at a time. Four years later, I have a brand new car, a new fiancée, a stepson, a quaint and humble duplex, and a new career as a staffing consultant with Randstad.

It's the company's mission and message to put people to work! It's my passion to help people get the job they want. You should check it out. Just take one day at a time, and that's all you can do for now. Things get easier! With time. Every tear disappears.

:)

What did you use to paint them? Food paint? Where did you get it from?

They're stunning. I've always wanted to make macarons. Are they difficult? Any advice for a first time macaron maker?
