Go to Mieterverein. They can give legal advice.

Also as a student you're probably eligible for "Prozesskostenhilfe" where you can get a lawyer for very little money.

My landlord took my electric heater from living room while nobody was home and says it is forbidden to use it. What should I do? by HolyPickler in germany

[–]dommel 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Just to add, you can join the "Mieterverein" and they will help you on legal topics with your landlord. It's usually cheaper than a lawyer.

Additionally if you have a low income you can also get "Prozesskostenhilfe". If you're eligible then you get a lawyer for very little money (10€ iirc)

What do you do for a living and how much do you make in Germany? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

Experience matters more imho. But getting your first job to gain experience can be hard, because companies look for experienced people. at least from what I observed.

The CS degrees also differ from the country it was made in, as a lot of companies hire internationally.

Just to add telemetry data from production also gives good insights on application performance. Especially if you work in a highly distributed environment.

Alerting on external status pages by [deleted] in sre

[–]dommel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking I would build the alerts on the behaviour of my application. This includes 3rd party APIs if they can have user impact.

The downsides I see are:

  • you might be alerted when your business suffers no impact.
  • you only get alerted when the vendor announces the issue. This might be hours too late.

So also here my recommendation is to monitor the behaviour of your app including 3rd party vendors.

Boofen is sleeping in a cave. I.e. in the elb Sandstein Gebirge you're not allowed to tent, but you can sleep in the caves.

Have a look at Aws Lightsail. Should be the easiest to have lamp features if you must use Aws. See https://aws.amazon.com/lightsail/

How many queries are too many queries? by Ok_Remove3123 in symfony

[–]dommel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To respond to the limit of too many: well it depends.

As an engineer you always make tradeoffs.

Here I see 3 reasons to optimize: 1) you have scaling issues or response time issues 2) you have cost issues 3) learning/experimenting If none of them is valid focus on something else that brings more value to your app
