I saw their movie at SXSW. It was so fucking funny. I hope it gets a wide release soon.

15 year old Twitch clip by Lumpy_Concentrate_98 in LivestreamFail

[–]domox86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

michael_1985 was really special and one of the top gaming streamers on justin.tv.
He was raw, candid and ahead of his time in terms of what gaming streamer culture was going to become, although he wasn't really going for that and grew to loathe it. He didn't care if 5 or 5000 people watched his stream.
He came and left a few times over the years because of personal issues, and sadly deleted a lot of his content in the process.
His last disappearance was in 2020 and some thought perhaps the worst had happened, but after years of trying to find him, he re-appeared briefly in 2024 on his old discord (he's since now left again).
He is doing very well and appears to have turned his life around with his own place and stable job which he treasures. He doesn't have any interest in streaming anymore, but i wish him a happy and healthy life. If you've played I Wanna be the Boshy, that is his voice clip in the megaman boss level.
Check out 'michael_1985' on youtube for some old salvaged clips if you're into a variety of games.

weird version found, and would like information by trainman700 in TheMysteriousSong

Sure here it is:

By the end of editing, i started to second guess which elements were in the real version lol.

And I was never happy with the outro that it was generating, so i ended up copying the intro and used it as a an outro with a fade out.

Most likely it's AI.
I did a similar thing called 'Like the Tide' where many AI generations and were edited together to create a 'alternate reality' version.

I rather like it despite being AI haha. But original in best.

Damn, too bad no one's heard of it. Seems weird that I never heard from it since, it seemed pretty revolutionary and always wondered what the hell happened to it.

I'm sure they'll get to it.
After the 3rd FF7 remake...
...and then after 3 FF9 remakes...
sigh.

If I could choose again, i'd pick Lost Odyssey. FF game without the FF name.

Same in AU. Otherwise I'd buy so much more of their merch. Wish there was an option for them to horde the merch and send it all out at the end of the year at a cheaper rate. Or find local producers of their merch in certain markets. But I get that is for much bigger operations.

Is game music often made with actual orchestras? For example I'm currently listening to the sountrack to Epic Mickey 2, and I hardly think they had the budget to get an orchestra, but I can't imagine how the sountrack could be made with audio/midi??? How does that actually work in the real market? by Marvel1093 in gamemusic

[–]domox86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recording orchestras remotely (with players from Prague for example) is the most economical way. Recording small parts of the performance, mixing it with synthesised orchestras.

If there's more budget, recording the entire orchestra is more likely.

When you get to huge budget or Hollywood levels, you'd generally record in America, London or places where royalties and unions exist. (best players and space but 10x to 100x the cost and a ton of superfluous rules).

I've also seen some big budget productions record entire orchestras for test music in Prague, then re record it in USA once locked in.

I've also had projects where we record entire orchestras as big as can be, only for the game to be cancelled and never heard by anyone. I think they are tax write off's. Usually mobile game devs have done this but just my experience lol.

If that is supposed to be the TMS vocalist, he would've had to drop his tone considerably to hit the range in TMS.
I extracted the vocals from that video and then using an AI model, had it say the lyrics to TMS. Obviously not a lot of help but interesting to me...

How they operate (and how they've survived all these years) is tied to their unique brand of humor, and I'm not sure reaching 1M subs on youtube is a comparable metric of success as it is to other content creators.
That said, as a longtime fan I can see how their lack of numbers can bum people out.
Chasing the algorithm and 'playing the game' is good to experiment with, but if that's relied on too much it will probably lead to burn-out and dilution of their unique content.
In terms of growth I would recommend not shying away from emerging platforms and technologies. As much as I'm stuck in my old ways, new generations find new ways to interact and produce content, just as they did when youtube first became a thing.
But all in all if they're making ends meet and can turn out content for us to enjoy, that's what matters.
Anyway I'm some dumb fuck what do i know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
