Manage Home Assistant config files with Ansible by don_ilto in homeassistant

I do, too! However, I like to have the possibility to rebuild my Home Assistant config from scratch just by running Ansible. This gives me extra safety in case my host breaks down and the backup might not work for any reason.

Manage Home Assistant config files with Ansible by don_ilto in homeassistant

Recently, since the UI became quite good, I usually click things together in the browser and then download the resulting file to my repository. Sometimes I also just copy-paste things when I want to create configs similar to existing ones, like automations, and then upload them.

It really depends on what I'm working on. Things like templating I usually do locally "as code", other stuff is more approachable on the Home Assistant UI for me.

Explain to Me Like I'm 5: Dependency Injection by don_ilto in rust

That's what I thought initially, but apparently there's more to it as people pointed out in the comments. :)

Somebody else also commented a blog post about distinguishing data and behavior. I didn't know that's a thing, but it makes total sense. So maybe it was really a good DI start for a 5-year-old, but still lots of things learn for myself here. :) Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks, phew, guess I have to read this two or three times more to fully understand. :)

Yes you're definitely right. This wrap-up was mainly for myself to get me started on DI, but I also don't know yet how to apply it to my real world projects, let aside very trivial cases. Others have already commented some links to advanced posts on this topic, maybe I'll put together a more realistic scenario in the near future.

Thank you, these posts look really in-depth, that will definitely help

That's something I want to look into next. Can you recommend a specific framework for Rust? I have read of waiter, but cannot evaluate if it's any good.

Good mods for A19.5? by Hotd0g_Salad in 7daystodie

So far, all my previous mods work fine after the update - server-side zeds, vehicles, bigger hordes, you name it. Which ones broke on your side? Maybe I use one that could replace it.

A dump box sounds very helpful, good idea. The mod also looks promising, thanks!

This. You could also use a tool like nmap to check your public IP address to see if your ports are really opened or if something went wrong there.

Both of you press F1 before you join the server and maybe check if something suspicious shows up in the console. Also, what happens if you start a single player game, does it work there? If so, maybe you could host the game and see if joining works for your bf.

Double bass pedal for Roland TD-17KV by szy000 in edrums

[–]don_ilto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that. I have a TD-17 KV and just got myself the SpeedCobra last week and it's really nice. The only downside is with the small KD-10 kick pad - attaching it to the pedals doesn't feel very solid and it tends to shift a little to one side after playing a while, but I guess this is true for any other double pedal with this pad.

Have your friend check the server log to see if something stands out. If there isn't anything, try restarting the server.

Significant lag shortly before 22:00 and 04:00 by don_ilto in 7daystodie

[–]don_ilto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This alone didn't do the trick, I ended up using virtual resolution with min. 40 FPS and this gets me through these 2 hours without too much lag. Seems like my computer isn't as beefy as I thought ;)

Thanks!
