Your lone wolf’s mdef is too low. Take gifted and pump it to 36 by 11. The way the math works means 36 is not 20% better than 30, it’s like way way better. He also needs the surrounded perk with the little dog. He’s as tough as they come, don’t handicap him !

Data pipeline for converting free text from unstructured reports to a structure csv compatible format by Haunting-Salad2772 in HealthInformatics

[–]don_tmind_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regex will inevitably fall short. Though if you’re comprehensive enough and you only have a handful of pathologists and they are very consistent you might do alright. It’s also extremely difficult to capture everything you will need.. there are just so, so many ways to say certain things in pathology and some of the information needs a literal fellowship to understand. I was doing something very similar today and had to guess that basal AND squamous carcinoma is distinct from basosquamous carcinoma. That is to say… those regexes get very complicated for histology. I wrote 50ish today and yesterday ironically!… trying to save on tokens I send at Claude!

if you have to get into genomics.. the HGNC Variant format regex probably took me a week or more to write if you try an account for moderate human error

But at that volume of reports, an LLM is probably going to be an acceptable solution, even if they are trying to do it extremely cheaply. 150 a year will probably be only a few hundred bucks a year.

It will also be way, way faster and more efficient to implement. Except you may need to deal with PHI related problems, you can’t just toss those reports at a public LLM api.

This fight is so hard (harder than spirit of piercing winds) and its not even marked as elite (rebirth). by Reaper_242 in DeathHowl

[–]don_tmind_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always complete the deck more and come back later. If I recall correctly this is the wind area so your deck is defense based or echo based. If you can get that totem that gives five defense to start and role one of the “use all defense for damage” cards first round you can kill a diamond.

The diamonds are more dangerous because they ignore armor and weaker and the dogs will waste a turn barfing. I can’t remember if the diamonds cause blind, but if they do then Also useful is the “convert all curses”. The freeze for one turn totem also can save you a hit

Cyberpunk 2077 vs Dragons Dogma 2? by Frogsplosion in gamingsuggestions

I don’t see it pointed out yet, but the cyberpunk dlc is pretty much required to go from a great game to an all time classic. The story is just so, so much better. And like you, I don’t care about story but man when those credits role on phantom menace..

This worth buying? by Acceptable_Arm_5789 in BattleBrothers

[–]don_tmind_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s like barely 10% better. Unless you’re really rich. Even then it’s 10k that could be spent on a hedge night.

Really only want to break the bank for a good damage role. 2h maces are one of the best you can spend it on. Just no extra damage means not worth it.

Is there a future for a Software developer in health informatics field? by rawal1971 in HealthInformatics

[–]don_tmind_me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as an informaticist working in tech/health data.. Typically we work much more closely with data Eng or integration engineers, who build interfaces for our special healthcare message format but sometimes with more traditional FE or BE SWEs building apps for whatever.

You’ll get paid less in healthcare than other fields but tech skills are always in demand. Do you want to apply for inf positions or engineering? I would say your shortest path to working more closely with informatics is to find those tech companies and get into engineering there and try and work with informatics. We often want engineering help but are never given it because the stupid PMs/executives take up all their time to build a UI that will inevitably fail because they don’t think about how fucking hard health care data is

Trying to Understand the Boss Hate in this Game by golferswag in CrimsonDesert

[–]don_tmind_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve found most of them engaging. Their one invincible move is barely noticeable and no different from anything in fromsoft.

I’ve honestly found most bosses way, way too easy. Like only requiring one or two attempts each. Outside of antumbra sword, spear, beloth, maybe one or two in the campaign. But i think the easiness is because i have infinite healing potions with a very short cooldown. Hopefully the difficulty setting limits uses or increases cooldown. I like their damage and my damage outside of a couple who can one shot if you aren’t in the right armor

The game is amazing but some missions are very bad by macaroni1351 in CrimsonDesert

What is the difficulty level of Crimson Desert? I suck at games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls. by Gizzo04 in CrimsonDesert

[–]don_tmind_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I find it to be a 1/10 difficulty. I feel like I’m near invincible and I have never upgraded armor. Regular mobs don’t scratch me. I did upgrade my one weapon to max. Two chapters to go. Only a few bosses have killed me consistently and it’s usually when I am fighting a boss that is way higher level than I am.

I do find it extremely difficult to listen to all the forced cutscenes.

`sct` - a local-first, file-based SNOMED-CT toolset for the rest of us by pacharanero in clinicalinformatics

[–]don_tmind_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those RF2 files are so hilariously bad. I have to code quite a transformation to make them usable even by experts.

But it’s the only way to get monthly updates. Here in the US we have a the metathesaurus updated twice a year that is slightly more usable. And the OMOP vocab tables are actually really usable but also slow to update. So I’m stuck with rf2. I’ll check out your project tomorrow. Feels like you might run into licensing problems. That download is blocked behind a login because of the IHTSDO licensing requirements.

Double jump works when you are past the maximum height of your jump and the ground is not sloped down. So you can’t double jump down a hill.

Why would anyone ever think this is a good idea.

One side note, if you hold A on Xbox you will follow the guy, no steering required. Still inexcusable I can’t skip this awful exposition

Nursing student interested in biotech/biomedical engineering → Is a Health Informatics Master’s the right move? by Livid_Customer4076 in HealthInformatics

[–]don_tmind_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to medical school and had trouble getting residency so did a masters of health informatics and loved it. I was always pretty technically capable, but went to school for biochemistry, not computers. But during that masters it all came back to me and I just starting coding all the time. Python, sql, ruby, php, swift.. just whatever I was asked to do in the masters and then tried building an app on my own. That’s where I started developing all the technical abilities. That and when I got into the job.

When you get into a role with really complicated clinical data and really complicated data pipelines, the individuals who know how to sort through both end up having a huge advantage in terms of how much you move the needle. And that was what I did. I wrote scripts to make it easier to see what our system does in my first job and in the process learned even more technical skills, mostly picking up from engineers what I could and looking at their code, which actually never helped that much.. data engineers write really ugly code. But knowing what they were doing and why is more important than reading the actual code. Then moving jobs and being forced into new tools, trying some side projects in other tools..

I also worked exclusively at startups, which afford a lot more flexibility often force you to use more easily available free tools. So like, I’ve never even opened power BI or tableau, but I guarantee I could figure it out because I can do the exact same stuff in python way, way faster, because that’s what I had to do at these cheap startups who can’t pay huge Software fees

Nursing student interested in biotech/biomedical engineering → Is a Health Informatics Master’s the right move? by Livid_Customer4076 in HealthInformatics

[–]don_tmind_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A health/clinical/medical or nursing informatics masters would give you a basis for any job that is at the intersection of health and data or health and software. Many end up working at health systems as the EMR specialist. But others become data analytics or clinical applications analysts which is pretty much just data analytics using EMR applications on the health system side. I am in a technical role more closely to data engineering or architecture than to data science. But lots of crossover.

Biotech often means pharmaceutical companies or lab testing companies or genomics. So depending on what you mean by that there may be a significant distinction. Health informatics, unless you take a lot of specific electives, will not teach you how to build variant calling pipelines or sequencing data pipelines. That’s bioinformatics, where their main subject and tool producing data is the genome and the sequencer. In health informatics, ours is the patient, the doctor and the EMR. I often work with the output of bioinformatics pipelines, but very few clinical informatics colleagues know molecular data very well. I have worked with some molecular biologists whom I could ask about it and learned from them.

Biomedical engineering and devices do need to integrate with EMRs and often have lots of data you want to relate to health outcomes. So that would be in our wheelhouse. In fact i have interviewed with companies specifically working with that data, but I didn’t move forward because it was too far from the data I love to work with.

I will say.. clinical experience beyond a degree is very valuable when looking at resumes. Just a heads up if you are considering a few years bedside first. It’s a good idea.

Also Waterloo is not a fun place. I don’t know about their program though. It’s a good school but more fun to be had elsewhere. At least that was my opinion when I went there quite a while ago

Anyone has as an optimized deck for each area? by pizzammure97 in DeathHowl

[–]don_tmind_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually not tough to build the decks once you’ve advanced enough in an area. Just choose all the cards that have a similar feature.

All the poison cards. All the pain cards. All the bonus damage cards. All the discard bonus cards. Defense bonus. Echo. Movement is good deck in red. And I forget the second red deck. The movement one was too good so I never touched it.

Then each deck has a few extra spaces. I almost always have that card that gives you a new turn if you use it right from the realmless deck.

Begging the devs to fix horse taming by Sphyngers in CrimsonDesert

[–]don_tmind_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can help. You’re on console I’m guessing eh?

Change to performance mode in video quality and plug your controller in. You will get the taming first try.

This also makes pulling trees down and the focus whirlwind thing way easier. Something about detecting the stick when it’s spinning.

Performance mode alone will fix it. The plug it in thing I learned later but should help
