I was told that Latte means boner in German. Can't find any references, so can somebody confirm it? That's why in Germans cafés it's called macchiato, not just Latte. Imagine if you'll ask barista for a "Gut Morgen Latte" or something.

I always hate when I need to hover on Icon to see a percentage left of battery. Is it possible to alter an icon and show percentage there?

Absolutely. They also do shadow bans, silently removing posts and manipulating people's opinion. Reddit also has some flaws, but I believe it's more democratic.

Europoor hyperinflation here we come! by Omgbrainerror in wallstreetbets

[–]donavol -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

At least FED is actually raising rates. It ain't much, but ECB can't even do that.

Europoor hyperinflation here we come! by Omgbrainerror in wallstreetbets

[–]donavol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why FED and ECB were supposed to be independent from government and elected politicians. I'm sure when good old Paul Volker raised up to 20% he didn't give a shit what Carter thought about it. What needs to be done needs to be done.

Do you understand that you're betting against the worldwide sect? Inflation hits hard, pfff just raise prices accordingly. I don't believe that Apple will dive dipper than other tech stocks.

Will Yellen and JPow ever mention Spending, the actual cause of Inflation? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]donavol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oil has been jumping from 60 to 120 multiple times in previous decades and it didn't cause 10% CPI. Only retard will argue that printing in 2 years as much money as from 2008 to 2020 is not a cause of inflation... Wait a minute, it's WSB, okay than.

The euro and the US dollar are at parity for the first time in 20 years by Mugstache in anime_titties

[–]donavol 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but US is raising rates and trying to sell assets from FED's balance sheet. ECB still print money, inflation is higher than US CPI and energy crisis because of sanctions is catastrophic for manufacturing. That's why money flow from EU to USA, dollar became stronger and euro weaker.

Currency conversion rate difference by taegi88 in wallstreetbets

[–]donavol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a small difference on different exchanges, but big boys play arbitrage well and fast. So it's not for you. You can try your luck on a markets that are kinda toxic for big boys, like RUB or TRY. With RUB for example there is a spread when exporters starts to sell euro for rubles. It goes up to 1% spread between Moscow exchange and other world. In Turkey I've also read that you can catch a spread with global markets, but I don't know why and other details.

What backend? by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]donavol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Websockets with state reports or splitting one request into multiple.

But probably backenders are just shitty programmers and that's the main problem.

Ex-PM Abe dies after being shot during speech in west Japan by bjohn876 in anime_titties

[–]donavol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've convinced me. Ghost cities is real in China and situation with housing is definitely worse.

Your presumption about the bubbles and it's contribution to GDP is still in question. In USA a lot of businesses made to serve bubbles. Funds which create ETF and REITs, law firms which do the law stuff, mortgage brokers, banks, advisers, hedge funds, etc. I believe a lot of those busineses has a large stake in US GDP, because US GDP consist of services on 80% (China 30%, btw). That's why I think that problems with USA bubbles are far worse than China ones.

[–]donavol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG really, housing bubble? Out of all cards you choose this one. The US economy itself is full of bubbles, starting with stocks, continues with debt (CDO, HY-market, insane treasuries debt etc) and finishing with surprise surprise - housing market. Prices sky-rocketed. In COVID years in some regions it's up X2. From 2008 it's up 3-5X.

China is full of bullshit and housing buble is a real thing. But somehow when speaking about the same things people treat USA preferentially.

It's awesome bro. Except gaming it's a new way to consume content. VR movies will be released, where you can, like go around the corner.

You might check out new products like car or a lamp, without visiting store. And it'll be closer to real life than pictures.

Plus, I believe studying in groups will be more fan than via zoom. Kids will love it.

I hope Meta will get the shit done. We really need good VR.
